Hello, how are you? So I gave a try at a change for a second chance acrylic paint, I used to like it before, but because of it drying too fast, I kinda lost interest in it. Maybe I took a break for a year or so, and this year I decided to give it another chance. I did see a lot of tips and tricks to not make the medium dry so fast, and one thing I didn't like using acrylic is that I am so lazy on cleaning my brush, so I may ruin a lot of it, so that is why I didn't invest in an expensive brush because of the same reason LOL.
My goal is to know if I got better at painting skin and overall, I guess hahaha. So yeah, I am going to challenge myself again, and I am going to see if I will return to painting acrylic again. To be honest, I kinda love the previous painting I did, it looks good and was painted well.
So today I am going to paint a portrait on a bigger canvas this time, no more smaller ones.
Materials I Used:
- Gesso
- Brush
- Pencil
- 2 Jar of Water
- Tissue Paper
- Acrylic Paint
- Spray Bottle
- Easel
Craft Time!
I recycle the old canvas panel that I painted a portrait on. And layer it with gesso. Then I am going to start sketching the blank canvas.
I decided to use a red pencil to sketch.
After sketching the reference, I prepare all the paint I am going to use. To make the paint dry for a longer time, I lay a piece of parchment paper on a file case and spray it with enough water to cover all of it, and then I line up all the acrylic paints I need.
I wet the canvas with a spray bottle, and then I am going to use this burnt sienna.
And then I paint it all over the canvas to tone it. What I did is so messy, but it still works though LOL.
I feel like the sketch is going to get washed off the moment I layer it, so I decided to outline it with dark brown acrylic. I am trying to experiment with my color here. I first added a reddish shade to the middle face.
And then I did outline the hair with dark reddish, and then the clothes too.
I started to render the skin and the clothes, just trust the process.
Next is the hair added a lot of shades of red. And to the eyes too.
Then I added the base color to the clothes.
For this part, I am gonna fix the skin and the hair.
Then, to make the subject pop out, I painted the background in light gray-green shades.
Let the paint dry and be done!
Thank you for visiting, see you on my next blog. :D
