Hello, how are you? I came across a Facebook post of a birthday party food, which is a hot dog and marshmallow on a stick, which I am so surprised, it has been a while since I saw one. I remembered when I went to a birthday celebration, that it is always the food I first eat LOL.
So today I decided to make one, but in a clay keychain, which I always do LOL.
Materials I Used:
- Polymer Clay
- Glass Sheet
- Weighing Scale
- X-Acto Knife
- Acrylic Stamping Block
- Toothpick
- Needle Tool
- Soft Pastels
- Brush
- Eyepin
- Oven
- Disposable Gloves
- Mask
- UV Resin
- UV Lamp
- Keychain
- Pliers
Craft Time!
First thing I do is to condition the red clay by kneading it by hand. If the clay is soft, it will take you a short time to condition it. Please remind you not to skip this part. Next, you can skip this part, I just like to weigh the clay I am using for future reference.
And then I shape the clay into a hot dog shape. I need two of these, so I made one after. And then I set that aside.
And for the marshmallow, I use light blue, pink, and yellow clay and then I roll them into this line.
And then I stick them together and then roll them to shape like a marshmallow.
This is what it looks like. To cut it into pieces, I use an X-Acto knife.
I cut each tip first to remove the imperfection, and then cut it into two pieces because that was all I needed.
And then I use a toothpick as a BBQ stick and poke in the hot dog first, and then after the marshmallow.
This is what it looks like.
To add the texture of the hot dog, I use the needle tool.
To add a little bit shades I use soft pastels and a brush.
And then after that, I added the eyepin.
Then bake the clay, but make sure to preheat the oven first, and then set the time and temperature according to what the packaging of the clay instructs.
Before proceeding to the next process, make sure the clay is cooled off. And then after that, I use the UV Resin on the clay, which makes the clay protected and shiny, and make sure to wear disposable gloves and a mask.
Then cure under UV Lamps for a few minutes or until there is no sticky feeling on it.
To add the keychain, I put the jumpring into the eyepin along with the keychain and then lock it using two pliers.
Now I have a hot dog and a marshmallow on a stick.
Thank you for visiting, see you on my next blog. :D
