Hello, how are you? Last month, whenever I had free time or had the inspiration to draw a clay charm design, I always did it, so when I have the energy to sculpt, I know that I have a reference to make it, and I’ll just have a little adjustment in design and in the final clay output.
So today I am practicing to sculpt the gloom charm I drew earlier, and I think it helps a lot in terms of me realizing that I wanted to do more and wanted to improve more.
The inspiration behind the gloom charm is from when we go to Baguio, the feeling of wanting to go back again after just going home. The chilly vibe of Baguio is one of the things I am missing so much.
Materials I Used:
- Polymer Clay
- Glass Sheet
- Weighing Scale
- Clay Tool
- Dotting Tool
- Needle Tool
- Gum Container
- X-acto Knife
- Eyepin
- Oven
- Pliers
- Keychain
Craft Time!
The first thing I do is condition all the clay colors I need. Conditioning is the most important step. If you fail to do it, then there is 100 percent that your clay sculpture will fail. I like to weigh the clay I am going to use for future reference.
For this part, I shape the clay into a head-like shape. This is what it looks like. Set it aside for use later.
And for the strawberry, I am going to use red clay. Just like I did with the first one, condition-weigh and shape it.
Using the back of my clay tool. I created a dent that is shaped like the head I made earlier, but bigger, in order to fit. This is what it looks like.
Then I added the head I made earlier into that dent.
For this part, I am going to add the eyes, nose, lips, and eyebrows. In order to do that, I start by using the dotting tool to map where I am going to add the eyes.
I start adding the texture of the strawberry. I use my dotting tool for this part.
Next are the leaves. I shape a lime clay into a diamond shape.
Using my needle tool, I create a texture in the middle of it to make it look like a leaf.
Now I am going to add the leaves I made to the strawberry.
I start adding it in the middle and then on each side of it.
Then then nose, I mix cool red and warm yellow and white. Then sculpt it into a triangle shape. Then I cut it in the middle to create a heart shape.
For the eyes, I rolled two small black clay balls into a circle.
For the lips, I rolled a clay into a thin line and then cut it into a small line and added it onto the face.
Then I added the eyepin. After that, I bake it in the oven at the temperature and time on the packaging instructed.
To add the keychain, I am going to use two pliers. What I do is I put the jumpring into the eyepin along with the keychain. I forgot to add the hand and feet, so I added one.
Lock it using the pliers. And this is the final look.
I hope you like it :D
