Hello, how are you? Nothing beats a simple sugared donut. Whenever I ate one, it took me the time that my only concern in life is to play all day LOL, other than that, it is cheap, it makes you full just eating one.
So today I am going to make a sugared donut, one of my comfort desserts back when I was a little kid.
Materials I Used:
- Polymer Clay
- Glass Sheet
- Weighing Scale
- Acrylic Stamping Block
- Brush
- Needle Tool
- Toothbrush
- Tree Brush Tool
- Sticker
- Soft Pastels
- Toothbrush
- Dotting Tool
- Liquid Clay
- Clear Glue
- White Sand
- Oven
- Keychain
- Pliers
Craft Time!
I am going to use a mix of white and a little yellow, just enough to make it look like an uncooked bread, and then I condition it by kneading until soft, this is important step so do not skip this part, and after that I like to weigh the clay I am going to use for future reference, you can skip this part.
Then I shape it into a ball, and then I place it on a container lid and an acrylic stamp for more control, and then I am going to use the tip of the handle of a clay tool.
I press the middle using the tip of the clay tool, creating a hole just like I did in the photo.
To add texture, I am going to use the needle tool, the tree brush tool, and a toothbrush. I simultaneously used them. But first, I am going to use the needle tool to add texture in the middle of the donut.
I like to tape the middle of the donut using a sticker, because when cooking a donut, the middle part is always lighter in color than the top and the bottom of a cooked donut.
To add shade, I use soft pastels and brush them on, which makes the clay look more realistic. I like using soft pastels to add shades. After that, I removed the sticker I put on earlier.
To add the sugar toppings, I mix translucent clay with clear glue, then apply it around the clay.
This is what it looks like, and then I carefully dip it in white sand.
I like to do the top part of the clay first, to lessen the messiness. After that, I do the next part, until it is already coated all around.
After that, I added the eyepin. Make sure to put it in a place where the donut can still be seen after adding the keychain.
Then I bake the clay, make sure to preheat the oven first, and after that set the temperature and time according to what the packaging of the clay instructs. Cool down the clay first before adding the keychain.
It is time to add the keychain. I first put the jumpring into the eyepin and then, using my two pliers, I carefully lock the jumpring. And done, this is what it looks like.
When I was taking a photo of it, the clay moved side to side, but I took perfect timing of it perfectly, so it looks good, so I kept it this way LOL.
Looks delicious! :D
