It was raining hard the whole day because of tropical storm "Inday" (international name Ampil) right after another storm, "Henry" (international name Son-Tinh) and couple that with the southwest monsoon or what we locally call "habagat." Such that we get continuous rains. We are no stranger to such weather occurrences. However, this phenomenon brings flood to certain places which is concerning. Even us here in the mountains cannot be spared because of landslides. We get a dozen or more storms every year varying in intensity.
This is the private road going to our place. The lights and reflections only made it look like it is flooded but it is not.
I did not intend to go out because I would rather sleep, curl up in bed and stay warm. I was actually doing just that, lying in bed, warmed by my blanket and watching on my tablet when it suddenly hit me that I need to pay my bills else it would incur charges which I want to avoid.
I checked online and sure enough it is due and the last payment is today. I have a bad habit of paying my bills until the last minute. Especially with the kind of weather that we are experiencing, I have been using that as an excuse not to go out. There's just something hypnotic about the sound the rain makes which intensifies the pull of the strongest magnet in the world - a comfortable and warm bed.
A ramyun house
Thank goodness to technology and the convenience of doing things online, I can do transactions anytime I want. So off to the nearest bank I went which is not more than 5 minutes away from our home. They have a cash deposit machine wherein I deposited some cash to my account and paid my bills online. Back when I was earning enough bitcoins from another blogging site, I don't even have to go out. I would just use my bitcoin to pay bills without fees using coins.ph.
Below are the photos I took as I went back home. I also wanted to test how my phone's camera would perform under low light. There are enough light still to get a good picture.
Colorful jeepneys or jeep awaiting loading/unloading passengers. These are one of our modes of transportation here in our country. Here in our place, jeepney or taxi are the only public transport to get around the town and the city. In some area, there are tricycles but not in the city proper. These were originally made from jeeps that was used during the war. These were then altered, refurbished and reconfigured into what they are now today. Some can seat 15 or more people.
There are still stores open as it was only around 7:00 p.m. when I went out. However, there are only few people and cars. If it was not raining, it would have been a busier street.
Some of these bystanders on the left of the photo do not have umbros with them. They could be waiting for the rain to stop so they can go home. It is always important to bring umbrella with you this time of year because even though there is no storm forecast the monsoon rains strike anytime.
I crossed the street and took more shots from there.
Overall, I like the shots that this smartphone can take. I do like however that the colors to be more vibrant. It's something that can be adjusted easily through editing but I want to do less edit as much as possible. I did adjust some contrast and brightness in some of the photos above.
I wanted to take more photos but it is quite tough balancing your umbrella and phone lol!
Here is a streak of red. A shot of a jeepney as it passed by in front of me.
Leaving you now with this picture I took going up the hill to our home.
