Arrival
In February 2020, just one month before the World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a pandemic, I was back on vacations that I always took annually traveling within my country Venezuela after approximately six years, this time I traveled to Valera, Trujillo State, Venezuela, I finally go to the Peace Monument, a monument erected in honor of the Virgin of Peace, by the way, the tallest in America.
The Monumento a la Virgen de la Paz is an enormous statue that is made out of concrete, honoring Mary, mother of Jesus, and it is located some 11 km (7 mi) to the southwest of the capital city of Trujillo State, Trujillo, within the northwestern part of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. As the statue is sometimes referred to as the Virgin of Peace, this impressive monument is 47 meters (153 ft) high, and it is considered to be one of the tallest ones in South America...The statue was completed in 1983 and inaugurated on 21 December that same year, and the main purpose of its construction is to honor the Virgin of Our Lady of Peace, who has been the city’s patron since the XVI century.
Monumento de La Paz
It was one of my objectives, to go visit the Monument, the day after arriving in Valera, early and energetically encouraged, we set out to go to the central passenger terminal in the city of Trujilo, to move to Los Ilustres Park where jeeps can be taken or buses that go up to the Monument. But since it was a Sunday and Carnival there were not many tourists and we waited more than an hour to be able to go up, I was getting desperate, but just thinking that I finally went to Trujillo and not seeing the Monument was going to be frustrating for me, until finally a group arrived that completed the number of passengers to be able to go up, in fact, we went up tight hehe, but we went up.
Upon arriving at the Park, we immediately saw the places where they sold souvenirs, the cafeteria and a place where they explain what to do in the park, where to store your belongings if you want to leave them there and the sale of tickets to go to the Monument. Upon entering the park I began to smell fresh air, delight myself with the landscapes and walk all the roads that lead to the Monument, immortalizing this visit through photos, nothing could escape me.

At the entrance of the Park you can immediately see the comparison of the other monuments and statues that have been erected in America.
Entering to the right, you have to go down some stairs to go to the chapel where I took a panoramic photo both in the center and on the ceiling, you can breathe peace and listen to silence.

Still, the entire monument is a complex structure that serves as a lookout to the surrounding, and as it stands at some 1,600 meters (5,200 feet) above sea level, it provides excellent landscape views of the entire area. In particular, there are 5 lookouts while climbing the statue

And at the entrance I was already getting the idea of what the climb was like, calm and without nerves up the stairs, there is an elevator, but it didn't work.

Coming out of the Monument they told me about the Haunted House, but to go I had to go by car and with other clothes, that day it was closed. The environment of the monument is a beauty where you can enjoy nature.
I really liked to travel again and learn more about my country, a cold, mountainous city and at the same time warm because of its people, I was in the city of Valera and in Trujillo, in the State of Trujillo, Venezuela, in this state, there are other towns that I am sure I will see on other trips.

Llegada
En febrero de 2020, justo un mes antes de que la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) declarara pandemia la COVID-19, retomé las vacaciones que siempre tomaba anualmente viajando dentro de mi país Venezuela después de seis años aproximadamente, en esta oportunidad viajé a Valera, Estado Trujillo, para poder ir finalmente al Monumento de la Paz, un monumento erigido en honor a la Virgen de la Paz, por cierto, más alta de América.
El monumento fue edificado en este sitio, ya que es allí donde se apareció la Virgen. La obra tiene 46,72 metros de altura, 1200 toneladas de peso, a una altura de 1700 metros sobre el nivel del mar, fue inaugurada en Diciembre de 1983 y diseñada por el escultor Manuel de la Fuente.

Era uno de mis objetivos, ir a visitar al Monumento, al día siguiente de llegar a Valera, temprano y enérgicamente animado, nos dispusimos ir al terminal central de pasajeros en la ciudad Trujilo, para trasladarnos al Parque Los Ilustres donde se pueden tomar los jeeps o busetas que suben hasta el Monumento. Pero por ser un día domingo y Carnaval no había muchos turistas y esperamos más de una hora para poder subir, ya me estaba desesperando, pero con solo pensar que al fin fui a Trujillo y no ver el Monumento, iba a ser frustrante para mí, hasta que por fin llegó un grupo que completó la cantidad de pasajeros para poder subir, de hecho, subimos apretados jeje, pero subimos.
Al llegar al Parque, inmediatamente vimos los sitios donde vendían souvenirs, el cafetín y un sitio donde te explican qué hacer en el parque, dónde guardar tus pertenencias si quieres dejarlos allí y la venta de las entradas para ir al Monumento. Al entrar al parque empecé a oler aire puro, deleitarme con los paisajes y caminar todas las vías que conducen al Monumento, inmortalizando esta visita por medio de las fotos, nada se me podía escapar.

En la entrada del Parque inmediatamente se observa la comparación de los demás monumentos y estatuas que han sido levantados en América.
Entrando a la derecha, hay que bajar unas escaleras para ir a la capilla donde tomé una foto panorámica tanto en el centro como en el techo, se respira paz y se escucha el silencio.

La Virgen tiene 5 miradores que pueden visitarse a medida que se va subiendo en el monumento, y desde allí, si el cielo está despejado puede verse gran parte del estado, incluso el Sur del Lago de Maracaibo, es una vista inigualable, pero si sufre de vértigo es recomendable que no suba.

Y en la entrada ya me estaba haciendo la idea cómo era la subida, tranquilo y sin nervios por las escaleras, existe un ascensor, pero no funcionaba.

Ya saliendo del Monumento me hablaron de la Casa Embrujada, pero para ir tenía que ir en carro y con otra vestimenta, ese día estaba cerrado. El entorno del monumento es una belleza donde se puede disfrutar de la naturaleza.
Me gustó mucho volver a viajar y conocer más de mi país, una ciudad fría, montañosa y a la vez cálida por su gente, estuve en la ciudad de Valera y en Trujillo, en el Estado de Trujillo, Venezuela, en este estado, hay otros pueblos que estoy seguro que veré en otros viajes.
