My Everyday Life in Switzerland as a Filipina: An Introductory Post

Greetings, everyone!

I’m Life & Switz, a Filipina living in Switzerland with my family. I love cooking, traveling, and savoring the little joys of daily life. This is my first time on the Hive blockchain. Previously, I shared easy and flavorful recipes, relaxing travel vlogs, scenic destinations, and authentic everyday moments on YouTube (Please check my videos at https://www.youtube.com/@LifeandSwitz). I’m excited to explore Hive and connect with the amazing community here.

Splinterlands and Rediscovering the Hive Blockchain

This week, I discovered Splinterlands through Hive account@mdasein and decided to give it a try. I’ve started playing and really enjoy the experience so far. Though I’m still learning the ins and outs of the game, I’m excited to explore its various strategies and features as I go along.

Hive account@mdasein encouraged me to join not only because of the game’s fun and engaging nature but also because playing Splinterlands would give me an account on the Hive blockchain. This would allow me to document and share my journey through blog posts, connecting with others and exploring a new online community alongside gaming.

I initially discovered the Hive blockchain through my sister, Hive account@day1001. She was very persistent in encouraging me to join since I was already creating content on YouTube. She said, “Why not try Hive and see how it goes?” This happened sometime last year, but at that time, I didn’t feel quite ready to take the leap. I even offered for her to share my experiences here on my behalf, but she insisted it would be more genuine and authentic if I wrote them myself. She also believed that by sharing my personal life experiences, I could inspire others to share their own stories and create a meaningful community.

My sister also encouraged me to join Hive account@hiveph so I could learn more about the Hive blockchain and connect with interesting people. She shared the Discord server link for the group, and I gladly accepted the invitation. I’m exploring the channel’s content and discovering valuable insights about Hive.

My Hobbies and Interests I’m excited to share with you some of my hobbies and interests. Cooking is one of my greatest passions. I enjoy preparing both Filipino and international dishes, with a special fondness for European cuisine. Exploring new flavors and techniques in the kitchen always inspires me.

Besides cooking, I love traveling and discovering beautiful places, especially here in Europe and back home in the Philippines.

European Travel

Being in Europe offers a unique advantage: you have easy access to nearly every country on the continent. This proximity makes it incredibly convenient to explore a wide variety of cultures, languages, and historical sites without long or expensive travel.

Filipino Gathering in Liechtenstein

This photo brings back a vivid memory of the Filipino spirit of Bayanihan—helping one another in times of need. We were in Liechtenstein when my cellphone suddenly went black. In that moment of uncertainty and panic, Melanie, a fellow Filipina who has lived there for 32 years, immediately stepped in. She asked her daughter to bring a charger that might fit my phone. Although I tried charging it, the phone still wouldn’t turn on. I also have a photo with Ambassador Dy, kindly taken by Fe and shared with me via WhatsApp. Looking back, what stayed with me wasn’t the broken phone itself, but the overwhelming kindness and generosity I experienced. Far from home, in a foreign land, I felt the true essence of bayanihan—Filipinos extending help without hesitation or being asked, simply because we care. It’s moments like these that remind me of how deeply connected we are, no matter where life takes us.
