¿Alguna vez han pasado el bochorno de llegar a un cumpleaños con las manos vacías? O también la situación en la que consiguen el regalo a último momento pero no tienen tiempo de envolverlo.
Have you ever had the embarrassment of arriving at a birthday party empty-handed? Or the situation where you get the gift at the last minute but don't have time to wrap it?
Hace poco fui al cumpleaños de mi prima, pero durante las semanas previas por cuestiones de la universidad y asuntos personales estuve full ocupada, así que no tuve tiempo de conseguirle un regalo adecuado y mucho menos envolverlo.
I recently went to my cousin's birthday, but during the weeks leading up to it due to college and personal matters I was fully booked, so I didn't have time to get her a proper gift, let alone wrap it.
Entonces el mismo día de su cumpleaños, su hermana me pidió que fuera temprano para ayudar con la decoración y comida, dejando sin oportunidad de comprar su regalo. Cabe mencionar que el día anterior estuve recorriendo un centro comercial en busca de un detalle que se pareciera a ella pero o estaba muy fuera de mi presupuesto o no era adecuado.
Then on the very day of her birthday, her sister asked me to come early to help with the decorations and food, leaving me with no opportunity to buy her gift. It is worth mentioning that the day before I had been scouring a mall looking for a detail that looked like her but it was either way out of my budget or not suitable.
Esa mañana cuando salí de camino a casa de mi tía para ayudar con la decoración, tomé un momento para caminar por el centro de la ciudad en busca del regalo, y en una tiendita escondida encontré un juego de collar y aretes que me recordó mucho a ella.
That morning when I left on my way to my aunt's house to help with decorating, I took a moment to walk around downtown looking for the gift, and in a hidden little shop I found a necklace and earrings set that reminded me a lot of her.
Una vez en casa de mi tía a correr con los preparativos. Pero ¡oh no! El detalle no estaba ni envuelto, ni en bolsita de regalo y menos en caja, me daba algo de pena entregarlo así ya que en la mesa estaban regalos muy bonitos de parte de la familia, así que como toda mujer precavida, antes de salir de casa tomé la cartulina roja que me sobró de mi brillante cuaderno de hive y me puse en marcha para armar una cajita de regalo.
Once at my aunt's house, I started to run with the preparations. But oh no! The gift was neither wrapped, nor in a gift bag and even less in a box, I was a little embarrassed to deliver it that way since there were very nice gifts from the family on the table, so like any cautious woman, before leaving the house I took the red cardboard that was left over from my brilliant hive notebook and set out to put together a gift box.
En un momento veloz tomé una regla y medí el tamaño del regalito, 7 cm por 9 cm, realicé un cuadrado en la cartulina con esas medidas.
In a quick moment I took a ruler and measured the size of the gift, 7 cm by 9 cm, I made a square on the cardboard with those measurements.
Luego le agregué un centímetro adicional a cada lado del cuadrado y corté por una línea de los laterales arriba y abajo, de esta forma se podrá unir y mantener firme la caja.
I then added an additional centimeter to each side of the square and cut along a line on the sides at the top and bottom, so that the strip can be joined and held together.
También es importante con la ayuda de la regla doblar las líneas dibujadas en la cartulina, así será más fácil de unir los lados de la cajita y se verá más estético.
Asimismo realicé otro vez este mismo proceso para hacer la tapa de nuestra cajita.
It is also important to use your ruler to bend the lines drawn on the cardboard, so it will be easier to join the sides of the box and it will look more aesthetic.
I did the same process again to make the lid of our box.
Una vez cortadas y dobladas, solo queda pegar las puntas para dar forma a nuestra cajita de regalo.
Once cut and folded, all that remains is to glue the ends together to give shape to our gift box.
Aproveché parte del papel de regalo sobrante de mi brillante libreta de Hive (la cual también tomé antes de salir de casa) y realicé un corazón, para darle un toque brillante y distinto.
I took advantage of some of the leftover wrapping paper from my shiny Hive notebook (which I also took before I left home) and made a heart, to give it a bright and different touch.
Así quedó el resultado de esta idea y manualidad súper rápida que me ayudó a salir de un aprieto.
This is the result of this super quick idea and craft that helped me get out of a tight spot.
