Let me show you today a beautiful leisure lake : LAC DU CAUSSE in Lissac sur Couze ~ France 🇫🇷
We will walk around this truly large lake and take in all the details we see. Like an old mill, canoeing late at night (video), the setting sun, a lovely bar for a refreshment and a small river with its bridge that has the clearest water in it that runs into the lake.
This natural area is stunning and encourages you to just walk and see.
Curious about this beautiful spot… come along and join me today.
With this post I’m joining in at the Wednesday Walk #challenge. That is hosted by every week on Wednesday.

Location of this beautiful lake in France we find on the following screenshot of Google Maps :
More information about this large lake you find on the following websites:
Guide de la Correze : Lac du Causse! and Visit Dordogne valley ; Lac du Causse.
We can read on above’s websites:
To the south-west of Brive-la-Gaillarde, Lac du Causse is located in an exceptional natural setting. With a surface area of 84 ha, it offers a wide range of water sports.
Do read further as it has some interesting facts.
This was an overnight stop while I was driving north from the south of France already a month ago. Where we discovered new areas and truly taking our time to enjoy some nature and a walk here and there to break up the long road trip that was ahead of us. (3500km)
We arrived late in the evening (19:22h in the next photo) but that didn’t stop us exploring the surroundings after we parked the van. There are a lot of parking areas around the lake so you will always find a spot.
Right next to the van was a large lake. Come along and walk with me now to explore it. Looking into the sun it makes for a magical moment…
Looking back we can see the green surroundings better: Forests, hills and the lake with several walking paths.
We wander… and after a little while we discover a little island. Of course we go onto it.
We can read it is the mill : Moulin de Lissac.
Our view from the little island.
It is closed this late, sadly, otherwise we could have gone inside the mill.
Along the path around the lake we see here, on this map, the entire lake and its surroundings. It truly is large… I wouldn’t mind walking all the way around. Just not now as it is too late for that haha so we walk a little while as far as we want to go this evening.
Our view from the beach and swimming area.
Here we see in the distance, looking back, the mill and island we were on before.
I see a little pier and tower. Next to it I see a little boat and a canoe that just got into the water.
Let’s zoom in a bit more. I like the dark silhouettes of them in the shiny water.
And off they go along the lake in lanes for the canoes…. The man in the boat is encouraging the canoer.
We follow them and see them disappear into the distance.
It is later now and we crave a refreshing drink as it is/ was a hot day today. We deserve it.
We find a little bar in a cute setting. On the far right people playing pétanque (jeu de boules). We take a seat under the large trees.
After the drinks we walk back on our selves and walk a bit further and find this cute location. The sandstone rocks light up in the evenings sun.
We just follow paths past the parking area and find a little bridge. It looks so cute.
We cross it and see on top of it this view.
So beautiful this location, don’t you think?
We can walk along the rivers side a little bit.
We can see right to the bottom. The water is truly crystal clear.
If you are ever in the department of Corrèze do and go visit this beautiful nature location and its lake. It is worth it one could walk for hours and enjoy watersports too.
…and here I say that’s all for today’s post my friends.
