The Teton mountain range is located in the Grand Teton National Park in the state of Wyoming in America. It stretches some 40 miles and the scenic drive through it offers some spectacular views. It's my first visit here so I can't compare it to any other season, but I think there is very little view that is as enchanting as snowy top mountains. We started our journey from Jackson, where I was staying the night before and drove the 40+ miles loop around the park stopping at various points on the way.
Mormon Row
The first stop is Mormon Row. As you can tell by the name, this place has an association with the Mormons. Back in the 1890s, a group of Mormons arrived here and set up a community. In it's peak, there were nearly 30 families, and there was even a school, and of course a church. Today all that's left is a few dilapidated buildings, including this barn which features in the mandatory photo shoot for all visitors. The mountain range at the back is the Teton, and it was my first glimpse of this friend whom I'd be seeing all day, as you will if you travel with me on this post.
Glacier View Turnout
You'll see the Teton Mountains in all the photos in this post, but trust me, you will not get bored of it. With such a wide mountain range, and diverse landscape, every stop is different from the other and a beauty in itself.
Teton Point Turnout
Like Teton Point Turnout, it's only a few minutes down the road from Glacier View Turnout, but it's another beautiful painting.
Snake River Overlook
The Teton scenic drive runs along the Snake River and every so often we'd be quite close to the river. When you have a river and a range of mountains as the back drop, it creates another stunning picture, again different from previous. This photo doesn't really do this stop justice as I couldn't take a better shoot of the river.
Oxbow Bend
Here's a much better and closer view of the Snake River. At Oxbow Bend the river takes a sharp bend to the west where it enters the Jackson Lake. We'll be going there in a minute. The river is very wide and you can just about see the bend when it meanders away out of sight.
Colter Bay
Colter Bay is on Jackson Lake and is my next stop where I stopped for lunch by the marine. The Tetons offers another stunning view here, and I'm a lot closer to it than this morning. This is definitely my favourite stop out of all the ones during the whole day.
Jackson Lake Overlook
After lunch I ventured further up north, still along Jackson Lake. It's not so built up here compared to Colter Bay. No buildings or anything, just a magnificent viewpoint. Quite remote.

Mount Moran Turnout
The Teton scenic drive is a loop and after Jackson Lake Overlook I was on the other side of the loop road that is nearer to the Tetons. You could be mistaken that I could almost run towards them. Except that the Tetons are massive and the snow is still quite deep.
Cathedral Group Turnout
I thought here's a funny one. I tried very hard to see how these peaks look like cathedrals or anything related to religious buildings, but failed in the end. Not that it mattered. They could have called this Crocs Sandals Turnout, it'd still be a beautiful.
Jenny Lake
And finally, I reach one of the, if not the most popular point - Jenny Lake. The road to Jenny Lake is closed during the winter season due to snow and I was very lucky that it had just opened the week before I came here.
However, I was still too early for the summer season. The lake was still frozen, not that I mind, but it meant I couldn't catch the ferry across the lake nor do any hikes. Well, life is never perfect. My whole day is blessed with my new friend Teton accompanying me. She's as loyal and gentle as my trusted little friend Snowpea who never lets me down. I couldn't have asked for a better travel companion to spend a day with.
If you're interested in the rest of my American mid west trip yiu can check out this post here, it will take you to the rest. Plus, I've got more to come. I hope you'll continue to join me.
