Hello everyone, I am supposed to be on a painting break but I couldn't resist painting today especially since I had this idea in my head to paint something a bit abstract and experimental with watercolor. So I decided to do that this morning and here's the final result
I started by drawing a sketch on my canson heritage water pad and I made sure to made it have hard edges because I wanted to painted something more edgy. I already had a vision like I've said.
I then put my colors on my palette and they were more or less the usual reds, yellows and oranges as well as some blues and brown which I didn't get to use as much because my orange mixed with blue gave me the color I wanted.
So I began to lay the first wash
The first wash was vibrant and sufficient enough because I made sure to pick as much paint on my brush and less of the water.
I then proceeded to paint the dress and the hand
The original idea was not to cover the hand but I realized that as more fluid and graceful fingers would complement this better than the cubic idea I had in mind. Since I didn't want to erase and redraw, I decided to add a bold element with red since I love red and I already had a fair amount on my palette which I didn't want to waste.
I still wasn't sure of how I wanted it to look and it didn't look as saturated enough especially since I'd sprinkled some salt on it to get a more Spaced out effect. So I decided to just paint in some more red when it had dried off slightly. I don't have a blow dryer and I needed to see the final result quickly, so I just placed the paper close to my infrad red heater to get the job done quickly.
I was hoping to frame this but it is slightly wider than my frame so I just let it be.
Thanks for stopping by ❤️
