Ser padre es el mejor papel que he desempeñado en mi vida, uno de los que he aprendido en cada paso que he dado con mis hijos, ser resiliente ha sido clave para adaptarme a estas circunstancias que todos estamos viviendo, y así dar todo lo necesario a mis hijos en tiempo de cuarentena, como el amor y un hogar cálido, ante tanta angustia por una pandemia mundial.
Being a father is the best role that I have carried out in my life, one of which I have learned in every step I have taken with my children, being resilient has been key to adapt to these circumstances that we are all living, and thus give everything necessary to my children in time of quarantine, such as love and a warm home, in the face of so much anguish due to a global pandemic.
Al principio no fue fácil, mis hijos tenían muchas preguntas sobre esta nueva situación para todos nosotros, pero como padre quiero lo mejor para ellos, y tuve que buscar la manera de ayudarlos a estar lejos de las preocupaciones, para esto como familia organicé, junto con mi esposa, nuestra rutina diaria que incluía actividades escolares, recreación como familia donde no podía faltar una tarde de película, e incluirlos en las labores del hogar que al hacerlas junto con mis hijos, abrió la puerta para llegar a tener una estrecha amistad.
At the beginning it was not easy, my children had so many questions about this new situation for all of us, but as a father I want the best for them, and I had to look for ways to help them to be away from the worries, for this as a family I organized, together with my wife, our daily routine which included school activities, recreation as a family where they could not miss an afternoon movie, and include them in the housework that by doing them together with my children opened the door to get to have a close friendship.
Aunque mucha gente solo destaca lo malo de los tiempos que vivimos, en mi caso lo he visto como una oportunidad especial y única de estar con mi familia, hacer los deberes escolares junto a ellos ha sido tan fortalecedor para mis hijos como para mí, me ha dado la oportunidad de contarles cómo era mi infancia cuando hacía esas mismas actividades, donde nos reíamos y donde puedo transmitirles que en algún momento de nuestra vida todos tenemos que enfrentarnos a nuestros miedos y a las cosas que no son de nuestro agrado.
Although many people only highlight the bad things about the times we live in, in my case I have seen it as a special and unique opportunity to be with my family, doing their homework together with them has been as empowering for my children as for me, it has given me the opportunity to tell them how my childhood was when doing those same activities, where we laughed and where I can transmit to them that at some point in our lives we all have to face our fears and the things that are not to our liking.
Como dice el dicho: "al mal tiempo buena cara" y la cuarentena me ha hecho crecer como padre, y reflexionar sobre cómo estaba tratando a mis pequeños, y con gran alegría puedo decir que estos días en casa han sido el puente ideal para conocerlos mucho más, demostrarles el amor que siento por ellos, y lo más importante que no me estoy perdiendo ni un minuto de esa etapa de sus vidas que es crucial para que sean excelentes padres en el futuro.
As the saying goes: "a rainy day is a fine day" and the forties have made me grow as a father, and reflect on how I was dealing with my little ones, and with great joy I can say that these days at home have been the ideal bridge to get to know them much more, show them the love I feel for them, and most importantly that I am not missing a minute of that stage of their lives that is crucial for them to become excellent parents in the future.
