What Is GHAWG?
#GHAWG is short for "God's Hog: A Watchful Guardian." This fictional story tells how David Guardia, a courier and business owner from Bayonne, New Jersey, US moved into the next phase of his life after spending the final ten years of his ailing father's life helping him.

After Old Route 66 went back to asphalt from red brick, we rode Rte 4 into Springfield, the capital of the state of Illinois. Springfield is also known as the home of Abraham Lincoln, 16th president & 1st president of "the" US.

๐๏ธยย This is both a travel entry and a trivia entry. Abraham Lincoln made his home in Springfield. Later in life, he would become the 16th President of the United States. However, it was with him that the nation would stop being known as these United States and start being known as the United States (as well call it to this day).

๐๏ธยย This zapfic entry is somewhat biographical, based on my own experiences in the 1980s and 2000s.
๐๏ธยย Earlier this year, I mentioned the opening credits from the 1980s crime drama series Miami Vice becuse it included a scene of a jai-alai game in progress. Jai-alai is how Lindsay Etxeberria can relate better to David Guardia.
๐๏ธยย Jai-alai, a game similar in principle to racquetball, is one of the most famous contributions to world culture by the Basque people. Basque country is located in a small area in the mountains separating Spain from France. Lindsay's ancestors hailed from that region. As a matter of (GHAWG) fact, Lindsay herself had majored in Spanish in college with a concentration in Basque Linguistics.

๐๏ธยย When I was growing up in the 1980s, I had seen some episodes of Miami Vice. Before the series ended in 1989 I had attended a few jai-alai games at the fronton in Newport, Rhode Island, US. While other frontons existed in the United States, the one in Newport (at the time, anyway) was the only one whose back wall was made from the same material as the front wall; it could have been cement or some stone material, I forget. This feature, unique among all American frontons, helped the ball (the "pelota") travel at record-setting speeds. Although I vaguely remembered my experieces at those games in Newport (and, in the 2000s in Hialeah, Florida, US), there was one name which stuck in my mind all this time: Churruca.

๐๏ธยย All I knew about Churruca was that he played jai-alai, and he was a major attraction on the jai-alai circuit in North America. How big was Churruca? I had no idea until I ran into this article titled "Jai Alai: Fury at the Fronton" from a digitized edition of a 1965 issue of Sports Illustrated magazine. What amazed me was the fact that Churruca was going strong nearly 25 years after that article was published.

๐๏ธยย When The Newlyweds reunited with The Twins and The Kids in San Diego, California, US to begin riding east along the path believed to be Route 66, there was a brief discussion about life after the end of the ride. Part of that discussion included how David would earn income since he was not returning to his native Bayonne, New Jersey, US. This zapfic entry is a callback to that discussion.

๐๏ธยย Given Linday Etxeberria's earlier history as a far-left activist, it's understandable that The Twins as well as David and Rhonda Bella Guardia would be concerned about how well she relates to and interacts with everyone else. Although she may still hold some beliefs she held during that now-closed phase of her life, she has grown enough to be more circumspect in her worldview. While she won't be a hard-core nationalist like David the son of a Marine{}, or an unrepentant capitalist like the Brothers Marchenko, or even as analytical as physics and engineering double major Rhonda, Lindsay will evolve to become a defender of life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness-- values which transcend mere ideologies and mundane politics.

Story Arc So Far
Felix Legion rides through Illinois, the 8th state (going east) on Old Route 66. On reaching Springfield, Illinois, US, separate conversations take place. The next day, they will conclude the rest of the ride on Route 66 once they reach the last few miles of road in Chicago.
