I would like to tell about one of the most unforgettable moments in my life the experience of being a leader at the For the Strength of Youth (FSY) at Solea Mactan in Cebu. It was an experience that was too significant to learn little about leadership, faith, friendship and happiness.
I was somewhat nervous at first because I never participated in the organization of such a large event before, as I was a leader. However, when I had an opportunity to meet the other leaders and participants, my fear slowly went away. No one was rude, all of them were very active and smiling. The beginning of our FSY voyage was thrilling to the whole team.
On the occasion, there were various activities of different days. Devotionals, group discussions, games and spiritual workshops were in existence. Personally, I was a big fan of the games as they brought us together and enabled us to know more about one another. Another aspect that I liked most was the devotionals as they provided me with peace and strength. I got to know how to count more on God and be able to lead people with love and patience.
In my role of the leader, I also had some duties. I had to mentor and lead the youngsters in my group and ensure that they were fine, as well as motivate them to engage. It was not an easy task to do, but was worth it. Their smiling and getting pleasure in each moment was something that made me happy and satisfied. It also made me develop as an individual.
The people I have met in FY were one of the greatest things. I also found new friends whom I considered my family. We laughed, told stories and we even cried. We stood by one another in all ordeals and rejoiced whenever we experienced success.
This experience showed me that it does not only take being a leader to be able to give orders, but to serve other people, be compassionate, and be a good example. It is concerning supporting others up and making them feel their value in the eyes of God.
FSY at Solea Mactan, Cebu will be a place I will never forget. It was one of the most memorable weeks in my life as I got to experience a week of lessons, happiness, and memories.
