The profitability of buying votes from @ocdb, the bid bot that allows whitelisted authors curated by @ocd to buy votes and thus grow faster, normally fluctuates between 10-15%. That is, when you bid X SBD, you'll get a vote worth 1.1X to 1.15X SBD in return. But wild price swings of STEEM and SBD may throw off the bot's calculations. Yesterday evening, I used the current maximum bid of 60 SBD on a post of mine entitled How To Market Steem + Another Shoutout To @coingecko and the author vote value from @ocdb seems to be 0.75*76.25 SBD = 57.188 SBD. I got a 69% vote from @ocdb. If these numbers are correct and won't change until payout, I will have lost just under 3 SBD by using the bot at this time.
I'm not reduced to a crying mess or anything over this as I've made profit to the north of 15% at other times. On the whole, using the bot has been quite profitable. It's not like using @ocdb is a losing proposition but one should be careful about the vote value it gives around times of aggressive STEEM price action. One way to protect yourself from losses is to check the comments @ocdb that it makes when it votes in the recent hours and take a look at the bid sizes and the vote values. I'd refrain from voting if the liquid rewards multiplied by two times 0.75 equals less than the bid.
Thank you fo your attention.
