El día de hoy quiero hacer mi primera participación en el Concurso con la temática de juegos, hoy voy a remover recuerdos de infancia, quizás de muchos en mi país, Venezuela y algunos otros países en los que se acostumbraba a jugar con este tipo de juegos, este está hecho con material de reciclaje y en lo personal me gustaba muchísimo para entretenerme por ratos, acompáñame y te comparto a hacer un zumbador o zum-zum como lo llamamos en mi ciudad.

Today I want to make my first entry in the contest with the theme of games. Today I'm going to bring back childhood memories, perhaps for many in my country, Venezuela, and some other countries where it was common to play with these kinds of games. This one is made with recycled materials, and I personally loved it for entertaining myself. Join me, and I'll show you how to make a buzzer, or "zum-zum" as we call it in my city.

En la actualidad, los niños muy poco conocen de este tipo de juegos, ya que desde que nacen están acostumbrados a todo lo que tenga que ver con tecnología, pero en mi época de niñez, todo era distinto, no teníamos mucha tecnología a la mano y teníamos que buscar otras alternativas, o mejor dicho nuestro entretenimiento, lo podíamos conseguir con cualquier material de reciclaje, recuerdo que tenía alrededor de 10 años y estaba en un plan vacacional y allí nos enseñaron a ser diferentes juegos tradicionales entre ellos estaba el zumbador, el cual me gustaba muchísimo y me entretenía por bastante rato, así que manos a la obra, aquí les dejo la lista de materiales a utilizar :
- Chapas o tapas metálicas de las que traen las botellas de refresco
- Hilo pabilo
- Martillo
- Un clavo pequeño
Nowadays, children know very little about these kinds of games, since from birth they're accustomed to everything related to technology. But in my childhood, everything was different. We didn't have much technology readily available and had to find other alternatives, or rather, we could find our entertainment with any recycled material. I remember I was around 10 years old and on a summer program where they taught us to make different traditional games, including the buzzer, which I loved and which kept me entertained for quite a while. So, let's get to work! Here's the list of materials you'll need:
- Metal bottle caps or lids like the ones that come on soda bottles
- String
- Hammer
- A small nail

Confieso que tuve que hacer varias pruebas para poder lograr que me quedara bien, y que de verdad zumbara al utilizarlo, lo principal que vamos a hacer es aplanar las chapas, yo lo hice con ayuda de un martillo, sostuve por un lado, la chapa con un destornillador para evitar machucarme los dedos, y por el otro lado iba dándole pequeños golpecitos, y así poco a poco la fui estirando
I confess that I had to do several tests to get it right, and for it to actually buzz when used. The main thing we're going to do is flatten the metal sheets. I did it with the help of a hammer. I held the sheet on one side with a screwdriver to avoid crushing my fingers, and on the other side I tapped it lightly, and that way I gradually stretched it out.

No recordaba bien si se hacía con una o dos chapas, así que al principio lo hice con dos, luego de tenerlas estiradas, vamos a abrirle dos pequeños orificios en la parte central, ayudándonos con un clavo pequeño y el martillo traspasamos completamente las chapas
I couldn't remember if it was done with one or two sheets of metal, so at first I did it with two. After stretching them out, we're going to make two small holes in the center, using a small nail and a hammer to pierce the sheets completely.

En este paso vamos a cortar aproximadamente 1 m de hilo pabilo, este lo vamos a introducir en el centro de las chapas, aquí es donde viene la prueba y error, primero probé con dos chapas, intenté darle para ver si funcionaba y era un poco complicado, se enredaba y poco sonaba, así que decidí eliminar una de las chapas, jugué con él funcionaba pero no sonaba fuerte, así que recordé que éste tenía los orificios del centro un poco más juntos, ya que se los hice muy separados, entonces modifiqué los orificios, luego volví a introducir el hilo y así si me funcionó
In this step, we're going to cut approximately 1 meter of twine. We'll insert this into the center of the bottle caps. This is where the trial and error comes in. First, I tried with two bottle caps. I tried to tap it to see if it would work, but it was a bit tricky; it got tangled and didn't make much sound. So, I decided to remove one of the bottle caps. I played around with it; it worked, but it wasn't loud. Then I remembered that this one had the center holes a little closer together, since I had made them too far apart. So, I adjusted the holes, then reinserted the twine, and this time it worked.

Bueno, aquí les rectifico, necesitamos para hacer el zumbador una chapa, la aplanamos o estiramos, le abrimos dos orificios en la zona del centro que queden juntos, le introducimos el hilo de 1 m aproximadamente anudamos y luego para jugar con él vamos a ponernos el hilo por cada extremo en cada una de nuestras manos, la chapa en el centro, luego vamos a darle muchos giros hasta que estés enrosque lo suficiente, luego estiramos nuestras manos hacia afuera rápidamente y devolviendo muy poco prensando bastante para que este pueda sonar, aquí les voy a dejar un pequeño video de cómo funciona este divertido juego del zumbador, mi hija me ayudó para poder grabar.
Okay, let me correct you. To make the buzzer, we need a bottle cap. We flatten or stretch it, make two holes in the center so they're close together, thread about 1 meter of string through them, tie a knot, and then to play with it, we put the string at each end in our hands, with the bottle cap in the center. Then we twist it many times until it's tightly wound. Next, we quickly pull our hands outwards and back slightly, pressing firmly so it makes a sound. Me gustó mucho remover estos lindos recuerdos de mi infancia y hacer de nuevo este divertido juguete, mis hijas estaban encantadas con el zumbador, tampoco lo recordaban 😂, espero les haya gustado esta idea, los que son contemporáneos conmigo, sé que lo recordarán 🤭, es todo por hoy, me despido, deseándoles muchas bendiciones para todos, hasta otra oportunidad 🥰❤️
I really enjoyed revisiting these lovely childhood memories and making this fun toy again. My daughters were thrilled with the buzzer; they didn't remember it either 😂. I hope you liked this idea.
