Today I will share with all of you my brothers from Steemchurch my reading of Psalm 84:
In the Old Testament, the Jewish believers went to the tabernacle and then to the temple to seek the presence of God, because the Lord lived there. In the New Testament, God promised his presence in the lives of all those who believe and turn to Him. Today, Christians must be aware of this important truth so that we cultivate the presence of God in us. Prayer, the study of his Word, attendance at the church, giving testimony of Christ to others, and living in surrender and holiness to God, are ways that that presence becomes real in us. Psalm 84 gives us a clear idea of the impact of feeling that real presence of God in our lives.
Longing for the presence of God. The psalmist found that the abode of God was kind. In a version that I read it says, "How loving, pleasant, is the place where You live!" Being in the presence of God is an experience of kindness, of love, of kindness. The writer longed with ardor that presence of God in his soul, heart and body. It was a longing that included all of his being, not only the spiritual. He thought how the birds, perhaps even without knowing where they were, made a nest in the house of God to take care of their young. How much more we have to long to be close to God, who is the beginning and totality of our life, who gives us the breath of life, who saves us, sustains us, gives us his gifts and wisdom.
That presence of God is the greatest bliss, happiness, or happiness of the believer. The presence of God is what gives us the strength to live, the one that guides our thoughts and shows us the way. When we go through difficult times, the presence of the Lord will transform our dryness into rivers of abundance and will fill us with power. Finally, happiness will find its final goal, which is one day to be able to see the Lord face to face in its full glory.
The psalmist reflects on that beautiful blessing, and makes a decision: It is more important to live, even if only one day, in the presence of God, than a thousand days out of his presence. Why? Because he knows that the presence of God is the light of life, which is his protection, the grace and the only true glory of the human being. The psalmist, like everyone who has been exercised in the presence of God, knows that the good and mercy of God will forever follow who walks in integrity. There is no greater blessing for the believer in God than to rest and trust in his wonderful presence.
Do you have that longing for the continued presence of God in your life? If you do not have it, you are missing the bliss and power of the greatest experience that a human being can have. The desire of God for your life, is that you make the decision to ardently desire to live in the presence of the living God.
