So sorry to hear this. I caused a loss myself, by clicking on a link that was the scam. I would not trust Gmail for anything. I keep my photos there with the idea that I might lose them, but then i have a back up elsewhere.
But I have to say, please lets not condemn Nigerians as a whole. Yes there are Nigerian-originated scams but there are also other countries that manufacture scams as if from digital factory. I think there are documentaries available about this issue on Netflix.
As a woman, I can say our gender gets a lot of shit online, and you just have to think of them as people who scream out of their own pain. A person who has everything well in his life, does not need to oppress /bully or talk down others.
