Hello Hive.
A pleasant new morning to us, I hope that we are having a great time. Thank God it's Friday and we will be having some more time to rest this weekend right?
My niece has been out of school for two days now, she feel sick and has not been eating well. I also noticed that been sick makes her feel irritated by the environment where she lives, hence when she told her mum that she wants to go to Aunties place, her mum didn't object. For two days now she has been staying with me while I got the doctor to treat her at home.
All the children born into the family loves their aunty (that is me) so much, most of the time I try as much as I can to spare some money to buy gifts for them. There is often doughnuts and sweets in the house and this little gesture makes the children perceive my small abode like a palace. Every weekend is usually such a good time to visit Aunty and have some refreshing time.
This particular niece of mine loves new clothes, you will literally see her dancing each time I sew a new pair for her.
Now that she got sick and couldn't eat I promised to make her a new dress if she takes some food so that the doctor can give her the needed injections. We have brought almost different kinds of goodies to bribe her so that she can eat and use her medication, you know how difficult it can be feed a child who has lost appetite and equally sick, I'm just glad happy that she is getting better.
It's time to fulfil a promise and this is the part that interest me the most, I decided to sew her An African Print Fabric dress with a collar. This is a trending design and adding a collar to our traditional print fabrics makes it unique and attractive
But what can a meter for fabric sew for us, I have only a meter of fabric left at home
I stated by cutting the lower part of the dress in a diagonal form here. Hoping that I can make a dress out of even the most tiniest fabric left over.
When you fold fabric in a diagonal form like this, you divide the waist circumference by 4 and cut this measurements out of the top of the fabric and then measure out your desired dress length from the remaining part of the fabric
Then i moved go cut the upper part using a 4 year old child's measurements
Also Cutting the linings in a likewise fashion here
When it got to the collar, I am not quit good with cutting and sewing collar so I stated by making a papper pattern that will give me a resemblance of collar
From the paper I then cut out pieces of lace fabrics I feel like should be it
I don't not feel derailed by not been able to make a perfect collar get knowing fully well that the more I practice the more it gets better.
Next I moved on to stitch every little pieces, the fabrics, lining and collar together. After everything was concluded I made a beautiful dress for my niece here and the collar wasn't so bad as expected.
What do you think of my nieces dress?
