Hello Hive
This is me transplanting Sorghum in the farm. There is always a time frame allocation for planting of each crops and once that timing pass we just have to improvise to get the crop planted or we forfeit growing it for that year.
Each farming seasons comes with doses of work for us as we desire to plant as many crops as are of benefits to us. From corn to guinea corn, groundnuts, beans and rice as staple crops then we have tubers like yams and potatoes as well.
The work is often overwhelming as different crops will be seeking to be planted and attended to at different times. Now we are currently working in rice farm, planting and transplanting on daily basis but in the midst of that we still have to pause and go attend to this Sorghum.
Each state's have their proper timing for planting of different crops based on the weather conditions of those states.
In this part where of the state where I live the we often plant our Sorghum in the month of June. Right after planting corn which would have grown to certain length we would then chip in the Sorghum if we are going to do a mixed cropping in those portion of the farms.
We often pair Sorghum with Corn, groundnuts and any other crops that will be harvested early.
Since we weren't able to plant the Sorghum in the month of June we were privilege to get some of the seedlings from those who planted excess and are performing thinning in their farms so that it an grow well.
Normally when we plant Sorghum, excess is often been planted in each hole and when they germinate together they get overpopulated and won't be able to grow or do well together.
Thinning is another task that is often done to reduce the number of the seedlings per hole. The seedlings thinned out from each farm can then be thrown away of giving go other farmers who will need them. Since we didn't plant we got some of the seedlings from there which I had transplanted here.
Right after transplanting it is very possible for the seedlings to dry up like this and look like that have withered out. This is the process they go through to adapt to a new environment. After this process and with the abundance of rain this will them readjust to the new environment and continue growing.
