Hello Hive
It's a beautiful Afternoon here and the weather has been friendly all day. Ever since we had the first and heavy downpour of rain, ther has not been any cause for the Sun to get so hot and scourging and for a moment we are enjoying some coolness.
Having rested from the homestead activities for today I decided to sew me this tote bag that doesn't take more than an HR to get it done.
I really needed a tote bad and something a little presentable that I can use to carry some important items around, maybe something a little fancy but the ones sold at the market now cost about $4
Instead of purchasing one I decided to recycle this unused dress to sew a bag for me.
The dress once belong to me but after I outgrew it I honmy you get sister but it didn't take so many years for her to equally outgrow it and rather than through it away I had kept that clothes that it will definitely be useful for something and today it has become this pretty bag you see here.
I stated by cutting about 14" from the lower part of dress
Next I cut out the seam allowances and restitched the parts I needed.
Fixing a zipper was important to me as it is one task I have never done before, I'm not used to sewing a bag with zipper. I took my time to learn how to sew a bag with zipper.
I got some red piece of satin fabric and attached some at the middle of the bag to serve as some sort of decoration as I didn't want it to be a plain sky blue fabric without the Touch of other color
Next I folded in the handle of the bag and attached them here
The last step was the stitching of the inseam allowances and the zipper was closed in nicely.
Most of the fancy tote bags I see out there do hot have zipper as hence it is very much easy for ones items to get missing. With zipper now everything that is put inside the bag will be safe and not drop off the street unlike when one goes out with a big without zipper.
