Hello Hive..
Happy Sunday to us all. I hope that we are enjoying our weekend so far as Sunday's are typical the more resting day.
I made this beautiful dress barely 3months ago and today I have to sit back and rework the dress unless I'm willing to stick with the design embarrassing me all the day..
I believe that the purpose for which we wear clothes is for it to cover our nackneness and keep us sane. Aside aside this we also wear clothes for fashion displaying our skills and creativity with sewing.
Nevertheless we must not forget that every outfit we wear must make us comfortable especially when we are in public places.
It happened that I love wearing flair dresses. It's a dress along the waistline that isn't tightly clinged to ones body . I feel so comfortable wearing this dress. Each time I get an opportunity to make a new dress for myself, this type of design is what comes to my mind first. Little did I know that not every fabric can sew this particular design for someone
Some fabrics are very thick and if you use them to make a lower flair like this type, you won't have an issues wearing the outfit, but some fabrics are a bit lighter in texture such that if you end up sewing a lower flair like this one you become uncomfortable when you wear the outfit and there is a light wind/breeze.
The last time I wore this dress last Wednesday to church and throughout the whole time I had to stick my hands in my thigh to keep the dress from flying up in the wind. At the slightest wind blow, the lower parts flys up leaving the wearer naked in public.
I had a very bad experience with it and regardless of how much I love the dress I have no alternative than to transform the lower design of the dress go something fitted.
I removed the flair.
Used a fitted skirt measurements to draft and cut the back and front bodice of the skirt.
Cutting it straight and making the dress a fitted gown will have it clinged to ones body such that after this recycling the Outfit won't have to cause any more discomfort when worn
I joined the new front and back piece to the dress.
Created and attached a lower flair here to make the dress more stylish
Next I joined the seamlines and zipper allowance
Stitched the hemming of the dress and now I have something that will feel more comfortable to wear and not create me more embarrassing scene. Since I am not willing to give out the dress to anyone or make them feel not comfortable wearing it like I did, a solution like this is most preferable.
I changed the dress from being a flair here
To now a fitted dress.
