Hello dear new friends! I’ll tell you first the funny moments I personally experienced for having a unique name! “What must be, must be”, I looked at the man who said this to his friend in the park to make sure he’s not referring to me. “You must be joking”, I heard the girl behind me said to her classmate and I turn to make sure she’s not referring to me. So on, so forth. Funny, isn’t it?
Behind My Name Tag
My name is Must Be and yes, my parents named me this way (with a little chuckle)! I am 38 years old from an island in Visayas, now married carrying my husband's last name Sebastian and am currently working in a law office for 20 years now. I love to read thriller books, watch movies, travel anywhere and tend our mini garden where we grow grapes as my favorite hobby. How did I get my name? That’s the question I’ve been answering to anyone ever since my childhood. So, let me share to you too my story.
Before I was born, I already have three older sisters. So, when my mom was pregnant with me, my dad kept on saying, “She must be a boy” for the nth time, as he wanted to have a son after having three daughters. But then, I showed up. My parents may have ran out of ideas for a name, so I ended up as "Must Be”.
My mom told me I was frail and sickly when I was a baby and one midnight, my mom and sister needed to ran in the neighborhood to look for a doctor, and thankfully there was one kind doctor who welcomed us despite the hour and gave first aid and medicine. When I was one year old, my mom gave birth to my little brother. At last, the junior we’re waiting for and a few years later, another baby sister added to the family.
My name may seemed unique to others but as I grew up, it actually sounded weird to me, carrying a feeling of authority to be this or that, obliged to be something else.
Behind My School Vibes
When I was 7 years old, I hated school. I just wanted to watch TV all day long with my favorite cartoon characters or play with the neighborhood children. So, my mom thought of a plan how to make me want to go to school. She bought a large calendar and a box full of cartoon stickers with condition that each day I go to school, I will put one sticker for that day in the calendar until I fill them all in one month and she will buy me what I want as a gift. So, I did not disappoint her. I never missed school that month and there was no space in the calendar anymore to put another sticker. That was the start of my education journey.
After my high school days, I was accepted in a scholarship program and I took up a 2-year vocational course in Computer Science. When I graduated, I still wanted to be in school, must be a change of heart since I hate school when I was a kid. So, I enrolled in another 4-year college course and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree (Major in English). By that time, I was already working in a law office and this is the stage of my life where I found my name funny. It is anywhere in the law books, in cases I was reading, or in arguments I am preparing, always authoritative, always obliged (another laugh). With the nature of my work, I tried to study law, so I enrolled in law school. I work in the office the whole day and attended law subjects in the evening. However, after two years as law student, I decided to half from my studies due to hectic work in the office as I cannot juggled them both. I just focused on calling-it-a-day after work to keep up with my health and do nature travels from time to time to refresh myself.
Behind My Forward Mode
