Hola amigos de la comunidad de Humanitas, espero se encuentren bien en el día de hoy ☺️. Hoy me gustaría participar en el tema del día: El rol de la mujer en la literatura. En los últimos años el avance en tantos ámbitos del mundo y de la vida misma nos ha hecho ajustarnos a cambios positivos y otros tal vez no tanto pero que muestran cómo las épocas van cambiando y nosotros con ellas también lo hacemos. La mujer hoy en día es totalmente lo opuesto en cuánto a lo que se decía debía hacer con su vida y cómo se tenía que mostrar ante el mundo, así mismo en la literatura ha formado parte importante de un cambio que muchos años atrás no se hubiera creído posible.
Hello friends of the Humanitas community, I hope you are well today ☺️. Today I would like to participate in the topic of the day: The role of women in literature. In recent years the progress in so many areas of the world and life itself has made us adjust to positive changes and others perhaps not so much but that show how the times are changing and we with them so do we. The woman today is totally the opposite of what it was said she should do with her life and how she had to show herself to the world, likewise in literature she has been an important part of a change that many years ago would not have been believed possible.
En la literatura siempre ha existido todo tipo de historias y de escritores que han dejado sus ideas plasmadas en papel para que otros puedan disfrutar tanto de una historia real o ficticia. Siempre se decía que los escritores en su mayoría eran hombres e incluso hay una gran escritora que para poder publicar sus libros en la época de los noventas tuvo que usar un seudónimo que no reflejará que en si ella era una mujer porque iba a afectar la recepción de la historia que al final terminó siendo tan famosa y ella hoy en día es multimillonaria.
In literature there have always been all kinds of stories and writers who have left their ideas on paper so that others can enjoy both a real or fictional story. It was always said that writers were mostly men and there is even a great writer who in order to publish her books in the nineties had to use a pseudonym that would not reflect that she was a woman because it would affect the reception of the story that in the end ended up being so famous and today she is a multimillionaire.
Este ejemplo muestra claramente que las mujeres en épocas no tan alejadas como los años 90, todavía seguían siendo discriminadas por intentar hacer otro tipo de cosas que no fueran ser madres, ama de casa o esposas. En la literatura de esos tiempos muchas tenían que pasar desapercibidas sin recibir el mérito por su esfuerzo y trabajo, otras tenían que mentir acerca de su propia identidad para poder publicar sus historias y ser parte del mundo de los escritores, por suerte hoy en día las cosas han cambiado y hay una comunidad bastante grande de mujeres escritoras de todo tipo de géneros literarios que han alcanzada hasta la fama por sus obras.
This example clearly shows that women in times not as far back as the 1990s were still being discriminated against for trying to do anything other than being mothers, housewives or wives. In the literature of those times many had to go unnoticed without receiving credit for their effort and work, others had to lie about their own identity in order to publish their stories and be part of the world of writers, fortunately today things have changed and there is a fairly large community of women writers of all kinds of literary genres who have achieved fame for their works.
Aunque están expuestas a las críticas por según ser creadoras de historias que no generan ningún tipo de cambio en la sociedad o en el pensamiento crítico, hay muchas escritoras reconocidas que han dejado un legado entre sus letras y una de ella es Virginia Wolff quien fue una escritora británica reconocida por sus obras literarias donde hablaba sobre el feminismo y también sobre otras problemáticas que sufrió en carne propia por problemas de salud mental como se ve reflejado en su obra Una habitación propia, sin embargo esto no empaño el esfuerzo y la dedicación que tenía para la escritura que era más una forma de liberación para ella y para expresar lo que aquellos que no tenían voz no podían hacerlo en ese momento.
Although they are exposed to criticism for claiming to be creators of stories that do not generate any kind of change in society or critical thinking, there are many recognized women writers who have left a legacy among their letters and one of them is Virginia Wolff who was a British writer recognized for her literary works where she spoke about feminism and also about other issues that she suffered in her own flesh due to mental health problems as reflected in her work A Room of One's Own, however this did not dampen the effort and dedication she had for writing which was more a form of liberation for her and to express what those who had no voice could not do at that time.
En Venezuela también fueron reconocidas escritoras cómo Ana Teresa de la Parra quién fue una de las primeras mujeres escritoras en Venezuela en ganar reconocimiento por su profunda pasión hacía la escritura y consiguiendo que varias de sus obras literarias fueran exitosas en Venezuela y conocidas en otros países, ganándose el merito de ser de las primeras en conseguir ser leída y considerada una de las mejores escritoras del país. "A través de sus escritos, De la Parra cuestionó las normas y roles de género impuestos por la sociedad, así como las estructuras de poder que perpetuaban la opresión de las mujeres. Su obra revela una sensibilidad hacia las injusticias y desigualdades de género, lo que la vincula con las preocupaciones feministas.".
In Venezuela there were also recognized writers such as Ana Teresa de la Parra who was one of the first women writers in Venezuela to gain recognition for her deep passion for writing and achieving that several of her literary works were successful in Venezuela and known in other countries, earning the merit of being one of the first to be read and considered one of the best writers in the country. Through her writings, De la Parra questioned the norms and gender roles imposed by society, as well as the power structures that perpetuated the oppression of women. Her work reveals a sensitivity to gender injustices and inequalities, which links her to feminist concerns.".
Hoy en día se podría decir que las mujeres tienen más libertad de expresar sus emociones y opiniones a través de la escritura y de contar historias que calan en los lectores dejando un recuerdo en quienes les apasiona el mundo de la lectura. Con la ayuda de internet he visto crecer a muchas mujeres de mi país Venezuela, destacándose tanto dentro como fuera de nuestras fronteras y contando historias que han llegado hasta la pantalla grande. Es valioso para todas las mujeres y las niñas que van creciendo poder ver que sus ideas importan y que sepan que el arte es tan valioso cómo cualquier otra profesión ya que pones toda tu dedicación y amor en hacer una obra que puede resonar en otros de manera positiva y hasta lograr cambios significativos en aquellos que desean aprender más a través de los libros.
Today it could be said that women have more freedom to express their emotions and opinions through writing and to tell stories that resonate with readers, leaving a memory in those who are passionate about the world of reading. With the help of the internet I have seen many women from my country Venezuela grow, standing out both inside and outside our borders and telling stories that have reached the big screen. It is valuable for all women and girls who are growing up to see that their ideas matter and to know that art is as valuable as any other profession because you put all your dedication and love in making a work that can resonate in others in a positive way and even achieve significant changes in those who want to learn more through books.
Educar a las mujeres desde que nacen es esencial para que se reconozcan cómo seres importantes para la sociedad más allá de ser una figura maternal, las mujeres han demostrado tener la inteligencia y la fuerza suficiente para enfrentarse a situaciones precarias y salir adelante. Es bueno que hoy existan más plataformas y maneras de poder educarse y leer libros en físico o de manera digital, todas tenemos una historia que contar y el derecho de expresarnos libremente sin temor a ser juzgadas.
Educating women from birth is essential for them to recognize themselves as important beings for society beyond being a maternal figure, women have proven to have the intelligence and strength to face precarious situations and get ahead. It is good that today there are more platforms and ways to be educated and read books in physical or digital form, we all have a story to tell and the right to express ourselves freely without fear of being judged.
