My dear hivers today I want to share with you my opinion about this excellent movie and invite you to watch it as I am completely sure you will love it.
"Until the Last Man" is a dramatic film based on real events, which tells the story of a U.S. Army soldier named Desmond Doss "the last man". Desmond Doss "the brave soldier Doss", who was characterized for being a Seventh Day Adventist Christian, who had to fulfill his task of serving the army of his country in times of the Second World War, but refusing at all times to carry a weapon in front of the combat because his faith and principles did not allow it, so he decided to face the war as a soldier doctor establishing his motto: "While other soldiers take lives, I will fight to save them".
By means of maintaining his firm criterion before this decision, the soldier Doss was victim of mockery and humiliations on the part of his companions and chiefs of the barracks, since all branded of absurdity the decision of Doss and therefore the presence of the same one in this platoon. In spite of all the bad times Doss lived through, he remained firm with his beliefs of not carrying weapons, which in the end made the military high command allow him to continue being part of the army.
Thus it was that Desmond Doss fought in World War II without carrying a weapon, never fired a bullet, and still managed to save the lives of approximately 75 men in the battle of Okinawa, including soldiers of the enemy platoon. This attitude of bravery, courage and faith, made this soldier after being the object of ridicule, became someone whose presence was valued, demonstrating this in a chapter where all the soldiers are observed including their captain waiting for Private Doss to finish praying for them to continue the fight, something that moved me very much. In reality this soldier was decorated with the medal of honor by President Harry Truman as a way of thanking him for having saved the lives of all these men.
From my point of view this movie has everything, starting with the fact that the director Mel Gibson is a "crack", fascinating scenery, excellent actors, a story that leaves us speechless, moments of reflection, friendship, courage, faith, and best of all is that it is a case of real life. Yes, I do not recommend it to sensitive people because it shows very detailed cruel facts that must have lived in the war, but I'm sure you will not regret watching it, in my case I longed for it for a long time but had not had the opportunity, and when I finally did I was amazed, understanding why it won so many awards including an Oscar.
It also teaches us about love of neighbor, faith in God and that war should not only be about taking lives, but also about saving lives, even if they include those of our enemies: "Lord let me save one more, Doss repeated many times".
