Hello everyone, how are you? I hope you are doing well. Talking about social media and its impact on mental health, I have reviewed it in other communities. Well, but I want to discuss it more deeply in this community. Talking about mental health and social media seems endless.
Because social media is increasingly developing today. Does it have a very serious impact? Well, the impact of social media use has actually been felt since long ago. Today there are many social media platforms today. Maybe there is TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, and so on. From the information I read from a journal, teenagers who have more than 4 social media, will be very susceptible to mental health compared to children or teenagers who only have 2 social media.
This means that the more users have more than 4 social media, the more susceptible they are to mental health. Why? Because our scrolling power for information on social media is very fast, where the brain captures information quickly and briefly. So, information will not be difficult to digest wisely.
On the other hand, the information provided on social media is not comprehensive from in-depth and broad books. Information on social media is limited to short narratives. There is a tendency for us to find it difficult to verify the information obtained. In fact, there are also many content creators who provide incorrect information.
For example, content creators who campaign for healthy living by replacing wheat bread and white bread. In Indonesia, the calories between wheat bread and white bread are not much different. In minimarkets, the wheat content in bread is still relatively low. There are many people because of information from content creators who flock to replace white bread with wheat bread even though the amount is not much healthier.
Then consume Porang rice and white rice. Campaigning to replace white rice with Porang rice. Where Porang rice is more expensive than white rice. One kilo of white rice is the same as 10 times that of porang rice. I indicate that to live a healthy life we need to be rich first. This is clearly totally wrong.
From the case I experienced, the truth has shifted from books to social media. For example, my younger sister only looks for information from social media. From the facts that I explained, social media through content creators can provide misleading information
Again, for me to get valid information we need to read books. Because books have many processes to be published. That's probably all I can tell you. What do you think? Do you agree with me? Don't forget to give a comment. See you again.
