My story about stepping on the Freemason building in Indonesia began to open. The Kimia Farma building, then the government building and this time this mosque. The mosque I visited, used to be a building for Freemason followers. In fact, from the history I read, there was a library here.
Then, when Indonesia became independent, this building was changed to Graha Pancasila. In fact, Graha Pancasila also did not last long. Until finally the grand mosque of Bandung City was built. It is said that this mosque is one of the assets of the Bandung City government. I have been about the grand mosque of West Java, a long time ago.
The mosque was built in 1998, then, this mosque changed its name to the Al-Ukhuwuwah Grand Mosque which means brotherhood. In terms of the building, this mosque does not reflect the dome that can be seen in mosques in general in Indonesia. This mosque is very architectural, the nuance of Islam is still felt.
Especially, the presence of a tower in front indicates that this mosque I want to add that this mosque used to be the Al-Ukhuwah City Hall Grand Mosque, because this building is very close to the Bandung City Hall. The name change began in 2007. Many people praise this building, because it is very distinctive and intelligent. We can see various innovations in mosque buildings.
The person who designed this building is Ir. H. Keulman Mas Enam. The design of the mosque also uses wood and a design without supports. Usually, mosques always have supports for the ceiling. But, in this mosque there are none. This design is also very good, because it does not prevent the congregation from listening to the sermon.
Another thing that makes this mosque very comfortable is the wooden floor of the mosque. Gives a warm impression. This is also the right choice, where the city of Bandung is known as a cold area, replacing ceramics with wood is a late choice so that the congregation feels warm.
There is beautiful Arabic calligraphy on the walls of the mosque. In some corners, this adds to the Khasan of the mosque. Although there are no round elements, there are still calligraphy elements inside. The wall where the sermon is held also has a marble decorated with calligraphy as well. In terms of design, this mosque is very beautiful and very dynamic.
