There isn't a town or city in Venezuela that doesn't have a Bolívar Square. Regardless of how big or small it is, each one pays tribute to our Liberator Simón Bolívar, who is an important part of our history. He not only fought for the independence of our country but also for others such as Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, and Peru, so I will never tire of visiting or getting to know each one of them.
A few days ago, I visited Plaza Bolívar in Santa Cruz de Mara after touring its boulevard (@noalys/visit-to-the-santa-cruz-de-mara-boulevard-or-visita-al-bulevar-de-santa-cruz-de-mara). Before reaching the Bolívar statue, I could see how different trees were part of the planters that were part of this space, bringing life and joy to this urban area. As I began my walk inside the plaza, there were several benches for visitors, and no matter which path you took, they all led to the Bolívar statue. The atmosphere was quite peaceful.
Once I reached his statue, the view was from behind, so it looked like it was on a base covered with ceramics in shades of beige. Bolívar was wearing a suit and carrying a sword in his hand. From the front, he was holding a piece of paper or parchment in one of his hands. The entire statue is painted black, and some shades of bronze give it an aged appearance.
It was last renovated almost 20 years ago and bears a plaque with the inscription: "TO THE FATHER OF THE NATION, SIMÓN BOLÍVAR, ON THE 175TH ANNIVERSARY OF HIS DEATH. SANTA CRUZ DE MARA, DECEMBER 17, 2005. ENG. LUIS CALDERA, MAYOR."
This plaza is not just another plaza; it is part of the heritage, culture, and sense of belonging of the people of Zulia. It is also a space for recreation and various cultural activities.

No hay pueblo o ciudad de Venezuela que no tenga una plaza Bolívar, sin importar que grande o pequeña sea su extensión en cada una se le rinde un homenaje a nuestro Libertador Simón Bolívar quién forma parte importante de nuestra historia, el no sólo lucho por la independencia de nuestro país sino de otros como: Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia y Perú, así que nunca me cansaré de visitar o conocer cada una de ellas.
Hace días visité la Plaza Bolívar de Santa Cruz de Mara luego de recorrer su Bulevar, antes de poder llegar hasta donde se encontraba la estatua de Bolívar, pude ver como distintos árboles formaban parte de sus jardineras que se encontraban formando parte de este espacio para darle vida y alegría a está zona urbana, al iniciar mi caminata por dentro de la plaza habían varias bancas para sus visitantes y sin importar cuál camino tomará todos llevaban hacia la estatua de Bolívar, el ambiente estaba bastante tranquilo.
Una vez que llegué hasta su estatua, la vista era por detrás, así que se veía sobre una base cubierta por cerámicas en algunos tonos de color beis, Bolívar llevaba un traje y espada en la mano, en una vista por adelante o de frente llevaba en una de sus manos un papel o pergamino, toda la estatua se encuentra pintada de color negro y algunos tonos de bronce le dan como un aspecto de envejecimiento.
Fue rehabilitada por última vez hace casi 20 años y lleva una placa con un escrito que dice: "AL PADRE DE LA PATRIA SIMÓN BOLÍVAR, EN EL CENTESIMO SEPTUAGESIMO QUINTO ANIVERSARIO DE SU MUERTE. SANTA CRUZ DE MARA, 17 DE DICIEMBRE DE 2005. ING. LUIS CALDERA, ALCALDE".
Esta plaza no es una plaza más, forma parte del patrimonio, cultura y sentido de pertenencia de los Zulianos, además es un espacio para el esparcimiento y para diversas actividades culturales.
