A warm welcome to all my travellers from all over the world. It is a pleasure for me to greet you on this Tuesday and share another place steeped in fascinating history from my city of Maracaibo.
Justamente caminando por una de las avenidas más emblemáticas en la ciudad de Maracaibo, como lo es, la avenida Bella Vista, la cual tiene su nombre, así debido a que durante todos los años en épocas de la Navidad se hace su respectivo encendido de las luces, justamente suele ser una de las carreteras más reconocidas, de la ciudad y en ella está un lugar que posee bastante historia, pues es la primera estación de servicio fundada en la ciudad de Maracaibo que actualmente tiene, funcionamiento totalmente para el público y estoy hablando de la bomba la Múnich, la cual se encuentra justamente en la avenida Bella Vista con calle 89 E, bastante cerca del empedrao de Santa Lucia y de la plaza la Muñeca prácticamente en el frente.
As you walk along one of the most iconic avenues in the city of Maracaibo namely, Avenida Bella Vista, which takes its name from the annual Christmas light display held there every year you’ll find yourself on one of the city’s most famous thoroughfares. And on this avenue lies a place steeped in history, as it is the first petrol station founded in the city of Maracaibo that is currently fully operational for the public. I am talking about the Munich petrol station, which is located on Avenida Bella Vista at Calle 89 E, quite close to the Santa Lucia cobbled street and practically opposite Plaza la Muñeca.
Esta bomba fue fundada justamente en el año 1912 por lo que tiene más de 114 años funcionando, inicialmente funcionaba como un bar el cual llevaba por nombre "Bar Múnich", pero después se funda la estación de servicio la Munich creada por alemanes en ese entonces justamente esto ocurrió en pleno auge petrolero en la ciudad, podemos ver que esta se encuentra justamente ubicada en una esquina la cacateristica que tiene esta bomba es que es bastante pequeña sólo posee una isla, que permite el bombeo de la gasolina para surtir a los vehículos de tan especial liquido.
This petrol station was established in 1912, meaning it has been in operation for over 114 years; it originally operated as a bar called ‘Bar Múnich’, but later the Munich service station was established by Germans at that time; this happened right in the midst of the city’s oil boom. We can see that it is situated on a corner; a distinctive feature of this petrol station is that it is quite small, with just one pump island, which allows petrol to be dispensed to supply vehicles with this special liquid.
Les voy a describir cada uno de los detalles interesantes que posee esta estación de servicio, podemos ver que esta posee una arquitectura totalmente colonial en la cual podemos ver que esta posee tejas en su techo rojas lo que le da un encanto especial, posee diversos pequeños y estrechos ventanales con rejillas de acero, con bases totalmente cuadradas que sostienen su linda fachada colonial e historica, podemos ver que esta bomba se encuentra totalmente conservada y en perfecto estado su mantenimiento es notable de como al pasar el tiempo sigue siendo totalmente conservada, también podemos ver las grandes letras de PDV que hacen referencia a la estación de servicio.
I’m going to describe each of the interesting features of this service station. We can see that it has a distinctly colonial architectural style, with red roof tiles that give it a special charm. It has several small, narrow windows with steel grilles, and square bases that support its beautiful colonial and historic façade. We can see that this petrol station is fully preserved and in perfect condition; its upkeep is remarkable, as it remains perfectly preserved despite the passage of time. We can also see the large letters ‘PDV’ referring to the service station.
Podemos ver que incluso esta bomba posee una linda galería, transformada en obras de artes pintadas totalmente a mano que refleja la gran historia del lugar, desde sus inicios estos murales reflejan gran parte importante de lo que somos como personas desde nuestra esencia marabina, los colores vibrantes, podemos ver en esta pintura como se encuentra un hombre montado en un caballo y dice Shell que es una empresa petroquimica bastante importante de reino unido Inglaterra en ese tiempo laboraban los norteamericanos, ingleses, alemanes entre otros, como también podemos ver personas con vestimenta netamente de la epoca así como también diversos surtidores de gasolina.
We can see that this petrol station has a lovely gallery, transformed into works of art painted entirely by hand, which reflect the rich history of the place. From the very beginning, these murals have captured a significant part of who we are as people, rooted in our Marabina heritage, The vibrant colours; in this painting we can see a man on horseback and the word ‘Shell’ a major petrochemical company in the United Kingdom at the time where Americans, English, Germans and others worked. We can also see people dressed in typical period clothing, as well as various petrol pumps.
Por último visitar la estación de servicio la Munich fue un gran privilegio conocer su historia es fascinante y como sigue vigente con el pasar de los tiempos, le pregunte a un trabajador que ahí trabaja me dijo que lleva más de 114 años funcionando para el público que el apenas tiene poco tiempo ahí pero que es un lugar muy histórico, espero mis queridos amigos viajeros y les haya gustado por completo este lugar nos vemos prontamente para seguir mostrarles lugares coloniales de mi ciudad hasta pronto.
Finally, visiting the Munich petrol station was a real treat; its history is fascinating and it’s amazing to see how it has stood the test of time. I asked one of the staff members working there, and he told me it’s been open to the public for over 114 years; he’s only been there a short while himself, but he said it’s a very historic place.
