Yesterday I was so pumped. I got a lot of comments and likes from top steemians I know, well that didn't reflect much on the dollar value of the post, but that doesn't bother me much these days. I have explored different ways of earning on this platform asides gambling.
Speaking of gambling, I have been doing a lot of that lately on the steem blockchain. How? Well, you can check out @magicdice and their website https://magic-dice.com if you're interested in giving yourself another heart attack. We all need that extra buzz now, especially in a period like this where the crypto market is running riot. It is a bit depressing I must admit. However, Today I won an extra 5steem on my 2 steem gamble, which I lost at the end of the day due to greed. Well thank God I powered up my liquid steem on time, or it would have been another story altogether. I'm not taking any chances now. Once any substantial amount of steem is my account I am powering up.
Are you promoting gambling Nonso?! well yeah... Isn't that what we are all doing here, gambling? Oh my bad, I think it is called something different here, speculating, right? We are all hoping this bear run ends soon so steem can moon, but there are no clear indications it will anytime soon. Matter of fact, steem might crash tomorrow and we will all go home with our tails in between our legs to lick our wounds. Impossible? well never say never.
By the way, @magicdice this is my promo post.
So moving forward. I want to talk about the joy of receiving feedback. In a previous post, I stated that I would rather receive a comment than an upvote and a few persons thought I was setting myself up for failure. But I still stand by my word. Now more than ever, comments and engagement matter. Many are already losing hope in steem, the only real thing keeping people here is the relationships they've built over time. That's worth more than all the steem they've earned so far. We newbies (you're already four months into this Nonso) think it's all about money/steem and the more you acquire the better you feel. Well initially yeah, you get that buzz but it dwindles over time. Then you would be left with your huge stake but no one cares about you or the things you post. You have no influence, just a few yes-men trailing you for upvotes. In the end, you end up lashing out on the whole ecosystem, but really no one cares and that will be a more bitter pill to swallow. Sounds familiar? Well, I did not mention names.
One of the most frustrating things for me is having to post something no one comments on. Yes, you may call me an attention freak, and I am not denying it anyway. The thing is no one, well I speak for myself, wants to create contents that no one can relate to. The number of upvotes doesn't cut it because it can be manipulated in different ways, through bidbots, curation trails, etc. So I might see about a hundred upvotes on a post and know no one has taken their time to read it. And since no one can see the number of views their posts get we can't help but assume judging from the number of comments we get, that a few people took their time to read. I don't know why steemit inc (or whoever) removed that feature. Maybe it was to protect the egos of some content creators. Imagine a post with a potential payout of $500 which no one has read hanging on top of the trending section, that would really be amusing. Personally, I like to face the harsh reality of things. Even as a blogger on WordPress, there were days I went without a single view. It was horrible but at the same time, I knew it was not as a result of my contents being poor but due to the fact that I was limited in my reach and a few people cared about what I wrote, which was poems. Even I myself don't like reading poems but I enjoy writing. This is why I have always emphasized on drawing the line between content creators and content consumers. The fact that I enjoy creating a particular thing doesn't mean I will enjoy consuming it. I have heard of movie producers/directors who never watch the films they produce/direct.
What I am trying to say in essence is that feedback is important, even more, important than earning itself. I think many people will remain here if they felt what did they had at least some form of impact on the lives of others. Personally, I really don't feel what I write here matters a lot to the people here--does anyone really care? If you're not talking about steem or anything steem-related at this point I doubt if anyone could care to read your post. Maybe it would be a good thing of the price of steem goes down to zero. I can't even begin to imagine what some people might do with all that anger and resentment they've been bottling up. But at least that might change our focus from price and probably we will begin to care about other things asides price.
Anyway, I want to use this opportunity to thank everyone who has taken their time to drop a comment or two on my post(s). That's what keeps me going.
