Hello Splinterfans! Welcome back to my blog! I fear we have quite a few less people considering themselves as Splinterlands fans nowadays, with the game having some radical (but mostly necessary changes) and the assets in general tanking hard due to the sell off from what I suspect are the bot farm owners dumping their assets on the market, and while this feels scary I think long term this is for the good of the game and a great buying opportunity - or a great time to start with this game of course!
Last week, I made a post about the changes and my 2 cents on it, and while I'm mostly positive about it or at least understand why they have been made, I don't agree with everything but like I said in my previous post - let's have some faith in Matt and the team and see where this brings us because the way it has been for the last years with bot farms leeching the economy to a slow death wasn't the best thing that could've happened for sure.
So, this weeks Social Media Challenge is the same as last week, to share our most remarkable moments in the Splinterverse, and of course it's the changes, so let's talk about them some more, I'll show you how it's been affecting my accounts and what I'm earning since the changes.
If you haven't started blogging yourself as a Splinterlands player, you should consider it to fund your account or to buy SPS with! 😉
To find out how you can participate in the challenge yourself, you can find the Splinterlands post here.
As you might have noticed, to be able to play in Wild League, players now have to buy a wild permit pass every season for 2000 DEC or 40 vouchers, to test things out I bought the pass for my main account with 40 vouchers, at that time worth $0.89.
And the big question is...
Is it worth it when you're not a max. player?
First things first, with the changes before this, the leagues got broken and rating inflation in Wild was a big problem, Bronze accounts were able to play in Diamond because of the many, many low level botted accounts with only a hand full of cards.
The way the leagues are meant, Wild was (in my opinion) always the harder league to play in because this is where ALL cards are allowed, so there are a lot more possibilities to play and it's where older players rule with their strong older cards.
It's cool to play here I think, and I sometimes see cards I don't see very often.
To fight the bot farms and push more players to Modern and hopefully fix both leagues the recent changes has been made and it will probably take a while until the dust settles.
Some information for my account so you can compare if it's about the same for your account.
On average I have a high level Gold modern deck, Chaos Legion mostly, with only my Water deck at max.
I have just crossed 45k staked SPS on my account, in total with my alt delegation I'm getting 48k staked.
In Modern in just below three years of playing I played a total of 11,520 matches with an average win rate of 58.05%
In Wild, it's pretty much the same, I've played a total of 11,534 matches here so I'm playing very consistent in both leagues with an average win rate of 59.14%
Let's look at this season so far to see if it's any harder now than my account average numbers.
So far, with the season only a few days old my win rate is 56.09% so just a little below average but nothing too crazy, and considering the start of the season is always a bit tougher to win in because the big account dropped down too, this might improve a bit in the next 10 days remaining for this season.
I played a bit more in Wild so far, with a win rate of 51.35% so Wild has definitely became a lot harder to win in, no doubt there a still botted accounts here but all the low accounts are offline now and every battle is a struggle where I'm seeing some damn nice decks, pretty cool and I don't mind losing to them actually, in the end it's a game first and meant to entertain, I like the process in thinking about the rulesets and to solve the puzzle what is the best possible team for this combination with the mana cap given to us.
Ok, so that's as far win rate goes, what about the earnings??
I made this quick picture for a post on X but why not re-use it 🙂
So I'm earning about the same SPS per win for and Wild Leagues, but the glint in Wild is double. (wild - 3400 rating / modern - 1600 rating)
So when I have a 50% win rate I earn about 20 SPS daily, the wild pass cost me 89 cents or at current SPS price about 100 SPS, it takes me 5 days to get a ROI on the wild pass, but I like the extra glint too and just the fun and being able to alternate between leagues is nice too, when I hit a losing streak in one league but I don't want to stop playing just yet, I can try switch leagues - or switch to my much lower alt account.
So that's as far as the changes affect me until now, how is it going for you?
This is still the most remarkable for me in the Splinterverse but I like to share a cool battle with you guys too, just for entertainment purposed and to make my post extra cool. 😁
First look at the battlefield:
Ooh, a max level player, his name is in my native language actually, it means 'Old Warrior'. I think has multiple accounts, I've seen other accounts with similar names 🙂 always cool to see other Dutch Splinterlands players, as far as I know we're only with a hand full.
He made almost a full magic team, so I picked the right summoner, but still he has a nice team with a very nice Doctor Blight, I didn't really brought a counter for Quora but hopefully my back line does enough damage to kill her before she heals again, IF I can get past that maxed Grund!
My Line-Up:
- Summoner: Immortalis - reason: Magic Protection.
- First position: Grund - reason: High damage Double Striker.
- Second position: Fungus Flinger - reason: Martyr, to boost adjacent cards.
- Third position: Katrelba Gobson - reason: Gladiator, good damage, Bloodlust.
- Fourth position: Lurking Puffer - reason: Low mana, good HP, Silence.
- Fifth position: Ava the Daunted - reason: Weapons Trainer.
- Sixth position: Thane Newsong - reason: Inspire, back line protection.
The Battle:
Round 1: WHOA! What just happened here!? That was an awesome opening for the battle, for me at least, the enemy Grund missed a hit, the Blind helped in that 🙂 and so many things happened, FOUR enemy monsters killed in the first turn, crazy!
With Katrelba up to speed, there's no way I'm loosing this.
Round 2: Wow, a win, against a higher level opponent in TWO turns, that doesn't happen very often, pretty cool! 😍
You can watch the battle unfold for yourself here.
A nice amount of SPS for my win, not a lot of glint, it's a problem for Gold and lower accounts now, in a full season I'm only getting about 80k glint with playing EVERY day. With trying to complete my legendary soulbounds, I can only buy two or three legendary's and some chests, it's better as nothing of course, I'm just grinding on!
I hope you enjoyed my post, let me know if the rewards are very different for you, and I'll hope to see you on my next post, or maybe we meet in battle!
