Uhh! How time flies! Its been a very long ride for me to be here, I do hope I've landed good and very timely here.
Its the tenth month already OCTOBER, yes, the year is winding down, I still hope for those of us that had our plans and agenda written at the beginning of the year we're still working fervently towards achieving our goals.
Part of my plans for the year is to have my gardens way better than it used to be, plus adding new veggies and fruit trees! I've always wanted my garden to be a one stop shop (supermarket) where i can have my vegetables and trees of all kinds.
#gardenjournal is another avenue to showcase my gardens and reflect on what I've done so far, as initiated by my friend .
Let me say this, I'm back now and i want to keep upto date with the #gardenjournal challenge...
So what Have I got in the garden,
Starting first with my vegetables family,
My Already existing vegetables of different kind; lagos and african spinach in here; most of these have been eaten off anyways but they can always grow again, one good thing about this, is that once their flowers got dried and begin to fall off, they can grow back all on their own.
Here are some jute family and some alloe vera; as much i love eaten fresh vegetables, i love keeping medicinal herbs too and thats the case of aloe vera; the plant has got many uses, highly medicinal.
Meanwhile, Above here, is the new seed bed i made lately, since rain hasnt stopped, i felt I should grow more vegetables, plus I'm adding okro seedling, so this young seed bed consists of spinach, jute and okro
moving on from vegetables to trees now;
Still need to keep the garden tidy a bit, here is cotton tree, I don't grow them much in the garden because that will occupy much, not growing the cotton trees for its commercial purpose but for its medicinals. Here, in my our own local means, cotton tree is known for treating typhoid fever.
Well, i still can't understand why only a few houses have this grown in their garden.
guava tree
Still staying with the tree, here are some fruit trees, guava tree! Sadly I don't have it so good with my guava tree reason being that i have pests and insect attack on the tree. The affect the fruits so badly that it got rotten while on the tree, the leafs are being eaten up by insects and at the same time decolorizing but I'm swayed by this, I've got some chemicals to fight off this.
young pawpaw (papaya) tree
My already grown pawpaw tree was uprooted by the rainstorm and since then I've not been so lucky with growing a new one, so i gave it another shot and am transplanting pawpaw into the garden, hopefully i get a little bit of luck with this
Thats it for now on my OCTOBER #gardenjournal. Please feel free to add your comments, suggestions or observations all these will surely be needed. Untill next time, Peace!
