Education is not just about going to the classroom; it's beyond school within the walls of the classroom; there is more to education.
Education can be defined as the process of acquiring knowledge, skills, and also values through different forms, like formal education, which is gotten from school; informal education, which is gotten from social interactions and experiences; and non-formal education, which is gotten from online courses, workshops, and the like.
Personally, I think it's the responsibility of the parent, teacher, and society to model and prepare a child for the future or the real world.
The parents provide the kids with all the guidance, support, and, if possible, practical experiences; the school can't play this part in the child's life. The home is the first training and grooming ground for the child; it creates the bedrock for the child's character molding and behavioral formations.
The school provides all the fundamental knowledge, skills, and values a child needs. A child won't become a licensed medical doctor by just learning at home, even if his or her parents are medical personnel. There is so much a child would learn from the school that he can never get sitting at home. Schools help the child develop interpersonal relational skills and interdependency, amongst others.
The society also plays a crucial role in the developmental process of the child. It is the society that enhances the child's problem-solving skills. Because nobody can function or thrive in isolation, society provides the environment for the child to interact socially.
I feel our modern schools have a lot to play in preparing a child for the real world. There are different areas that they need to pay more attention to and work on:
The mental health of the child is one area of priority; another is their interpersonal relational skills, then their problem-solving abilities, and their creativity.
