Нещодавно я тут пафосно анонсував своє повернення, від якого всі мають стати щасливими (вони ще просто поки не знають наскільки). Тому, щоб виправдати сподівання своїх підписників і не виявитися брехуном мушу щось публікувати. Ну і раз я в заголовку блогу написав, що колом моїх зацікавлень є література і музика, то напишу про книгу, яку зараз читаю. І яка мене ніяк не відпускає. Оксана Забужко «Notre Damme d’Ukraine».

Well, once in the headline of the blog I wrote that in the circle of my interests are literature and music, then I will write about the book I am currently reading. And what does not let me go. Читати Забужко приходиться довго, з перервами. Читаючи, треба під рукою мати планшет. Часто відриватися на, принаймні вікіпедію, або посилання на інші її статті. Для того, щоб краще і глибше зрозуміти її думку. Так що деколи, читаючи, щоб зрозуміти якусь одну фразу/одне речення приходиться перечитати здоровенну статтю на 20 сторінок. Тому процес іде повільно. Але не без приємності.

But not without pleasure.
Центральною «героїнею» є Леся Українка. Точніше «міф про неї». Бажання автора відчистити образ Лесі Українки від намулу радянської, сталінської пропаганди, показати, реальне, істинне місце Лесі в нашій історії, культурі.
Важливим також бачиться бажання повернути все те шляхетське, високе, що дійсно репрезентувала собою Лариса Косач, і якому було не місце в нашій колонії. Точніше, Леся Українка, як краща представниця тієї культури, яка вже від нас відійшла і яку оплакував Шпенглер у своїх «Сутінках Європи».
І ось тут, якраз червоною ниткою проходить і головний «меседж» цілої книжки – Україна завжди була в Європі. Нема ніякого ходіння до Європи – бо ми там завжди були. І весь міф Лесі Українки власне про це і ним є. «Ментальний Євросоюз» існував завжди. І Україна була саме духовою його складовою. Десь щось саме тут проартикулювалося раніше – десь щось запозичилося – нормальні процеси обміну думками і духом. Ця традиція була брутально обірвана, і довершена розстрілами 30-их років, таборами і голодоморами. Але десь під шаром намулу це ще можна реконструювати. Хоча б на рівні знань.

More precisely, Lesya Ukrainka, as the best representative of the culture that has already left us, and which Spengler mourned in his Twilight of Europe.
And here, just the red thread is the main "message" of the entire book - Ukraine has always been in Europe. There is no going to Europe because we have always been there. And the whole myth of Lesya Ukrainka actually is about it. "Mental EU" has always existed. And Ukraine was just the spiritual part of it. Somewhere something here was articulated earlier - somewhere something borrowed - normal processes of exchange of thoughts and spirit. This tradition was brutally torn up, and was completed by the shooting of the 30s, camps and famines. But somewhere under the mud layer, it can still be reconstructed. At least at the level of knowledge.
Повторюся, я не знаю всіх тих філософських, культурологічних концепцій, теорій, на які посилається автор. Та і вивчати їх не зможу. Намагаюся, попри особисте захоплення все таки ставитися по максимуму критично. Багато речей, мене відверто знічують. І я не маю підтвердження в їх правоті. Але те що така діяльність (читання розумних, грубих книжок) конкретно стимулює розумову діяльність, дає змогу бачити світ цілісним, і відкриває в зовсім іншому світлі багато речей, про які нібито і знав, але до кінця не розумів…
Те, що це вже третє видання, свідчить, що книга не була «прохідною», а є окремим явищем в культурному житті України.
Again, I do not know all those philosophical, culturological concepts, theories, which the author refers to. Yes, and I can not study them. I try, despite my personal enthusiasm, to be at the highest critical level. Many things, I'm frankly discontinued. And I have no confirmation of their correctness. But the fact that such activity (reading clever, rough books) specifically stimulates mental activity, makes it possible to see the world as a whole, and opens in a completely different light many things that they supposedly knew, but did not fully understand ...
The fact that this is the third edition shows that the book was not "passable", but is a separate phenomenon in the cultural life of Ukraine.
