제가 충주에 오기 전에 대전의 원룸에서 귀신을 쫒아내는 기도를 시작했다는 것은 여러분도 잘 아는 사실이지요.
You should know by now that I started the ministry in my small studio apartment, chasing demons, before I came to ChoongJoo.
그러나 그 때는 정신질환을 해결해준다는 소문을 듣고 알음알음하여 찾아온 사람들이었을 뿐입니다.
But many people who came to me came because they've heard that I heal mental illnesses, through word of mouth.
제가 그들에게 축출기도를 하자 귀신이 드러나고, 귀신이 쫓겨나가자 정신질환도 회복이 되었어요.
As I prayed and invoked them, demons revealed themselves; their mental illnesses disappeared as demons were driven out.
그러나 축출기도를 통해 몸이 회복이 되면 기도훈련을 하겠다는 약속은 지켜지지 않았죠.
But they never kept their promise of training for proper prayer, once they got their issues resolved.
말하자면 화장실에 다녀오자, 생각이 확 바뀌었던 겁니다.
In other words, they flipped their minds right away.
그래서 그 후에 그들의 삶에 무슨 변화가 있는지 저는 모릅니다.
So I do not know what have happened after they left.
가끔 새로운 문제가 생겨서 전화를 하는 이도 있었지만, 저는 그들의 전화를 받지 않았습니다.
Some call back whenever they have new issues they struggle with, but I did not answer the phone.
그리고 성령께서 지금의 사역을 열어주어, 충주에 와서 사역을 진행하고 있지요.
The Holy Spirit led me to my current ministry, and now I am here in ChoongJoo, doing God's work.
그렇다면 하나님을 부르는 기도를 하면 인생이 행복해질까요?
Let's go back to the title: Can calling out to God give you happiness?
제가 대전의 원룸에서 귀신을 쫓아내며 정신질환을 치유할 때 찾아온 사람들은 삶이 너덜너덜해진 이들이 대부분이었습니다.
The people I dealt with back in DaeJeon were suffering from all the life's hardships one can ever encounter.
정신질환과 귀신들린 현상으로 고통당하고 있는데, 그들에게 행복한 삶이 주어지겠습니까?
How can they be happy, when they were sucked out of their souls with mental illnesses and demons' meddling?
이들의 육체의 질병뿐 아니라 가족 간의 문제, 그리고 다양한 삶의 문제로 인하여 고통 받고 있었습니다.
They were suffering from not only illnesses but also conflicts within family and various problems life threw at them.
그렇다면 이들의 문제의 원인은 무엇일까요?
So what is the cause of their problems?
세상에서 말하는 대로, 흙 수저로 태어났기 때문일까요?
Is it because these people were born without any silver spoons, just like the world says?
가난한 부모를 잘못 만난 탓이고, 대통령을 잘못 선택한 탓이고, 경쟁이 치열한 한국 땅에 태어난 탓일까요?
Is it because their parents are poor? Is it because they voted for the wrong president? Is it because they were born in Korea, a competitive world?
머리가 나빠서 명문대학에 가지 못한 탓이고, 나쁜 친구를 만나서 인생이 삐뚤어진 탓일까요?
Is it because they could not go to good universities because they are not smart enough? Is it because they have terrible, malicious friends?
물론 그럴 수도 있죠.
Maybe. It is possible.
그러나 성경은 세상을 지배하는 세력이 하나님이 아니라 악한 영이라고 말하고 있습니다.
But the Bible says that demons rule this world, not God.
그래서 악한 영들이 공중(세상)의 권세를 잡은 자라고 말합니다.
The Bible calls the demons rulers of the air.
그래서 우리가 그들과 피터지게 싸워야 한다고 권면하고 있죠.
And it commands us to fight with all we have against these demons.
이처럼 성경말씀대로라면, 사람들이 불행한 원인이 악한 영이 지배하는 세상에 살고 있기 때문일 겁니다.
If the Bible speaks the truth, people are miserable because they live in the world where demons rule.
악한 영의 목적은 사람에게 죄를 짓게 하여 불행에 빠뜨려서 고통을 주고 생명과 영혼을 사냥하기 때문이지요.
Demons' goal is to make people sin, throw them into misfortune, hurth them, and hunt people's lives and souls.
그래서 귀신을 쫒아내고 성령이 우리 안에 들어오시면 평안하고 형통한 삶을 살게 될 거라는 투의 말씀이 성경에 널려있어요.
There are passages that promise us that we will live happily ever after, once demons move out and the Holy Spirit comes.
그러나 교회에 와서 영접기도를 하고 주일성수를 하면, 성령이 자동으로 들어오신다고 배워왔던 우리네 교인들은 죄다 평안하고 형통한 삶을 살고 있습니까?
But like how many churches today tell people, does the Holy Spirit come automatically when they attend church? Does that guarantee happy and peaceful life?
또한 그들은 귀신이 거룩한 하나님의 교회에 어떻게 들어오며, 하나님의 자녀에게 어떻게 잠복하고 공격하느냐면서, 제 주장을 인정하지 않습니다.
And people don't like to think demons can come inside churches. They don't listen to what I say, saying how can demons attack children of God.
제가 충주에 와서 성령이 내주하는 기도훈련 사역을 시작하고 나서, 기도훈련을 요청한 수많은 사람들에게 하나님을 부르는 기도를 훈련시켰습니다.
When I first started my ministry in ChoongJoo, people who came to me had to go through the prayer training, learn to seek God.
그래서 성령이 갓 임재한 현상을 보이는 백여 명의 사람들을 졸업시켰고, 그중에 적지 않은 사람들이 영성학교 공동체에 몸담으면서, 이 기도의 습관을 들이면서 기도의 내공을 쌓고 있습니다.
So I've had people graduate the program, if they showed the signs of the Spirit; there were over 100 graduates, and some of them are still important members of CSA today.
말하자면 이들은 적어도 1년에서 2년 정도 하나님을 부르는 기도를 하고 있는 셈입니다.
Basically, they have been praying for a year or two, at least, calling out to God and seeking him.
그렇다면 그들의 삶이 행복해졌는가? 아니더라도, 과거에 비해 점점 행복해지고 있습니까?
Are they happy now? Or are they happier than before?
만약 이들의 삶에서 행복을 증명해보이지 않는다면, 제가 주장하는 하나님의 부르는 기도가 성령이 임하는 기도도 아니고, 사람들이 불행이 죄다 귀신 때문도 아닐 겁니다.
If they are not happy still, that can only mean the way they pray won't bring the Holy Spirit
어떻습니까? 여러분도 궁금하지 않나요?

그렇다고 제가 영성학교 공동체에서 하나님의 이름을 부르는 기도의 습관을 들인 사람들의 삶이 평안하고 형통하다고 말한다면, 여러분은 제의 말을 곧이듣겠습니까?
Would you believe me a 100%, if I told you
솔직히 말해서 제가 그렇다고 목청을 돋우면서 말해도, 사람들이 제 말을 신뢰하기 어려울 겁니다.
Honestly, people won't believe me, even if I shout at the top of my lungs.
그런 일은 본적이 없기 때문이죠.
It is because they have never seen this before.
그렇다면 여러분이 충주에 와서 공동체 사람들에게 확인해보면 됩니다.
If you are curious, you can come to CSA and find out yourself.
아니, 이 칼럼을 읽는 사람들 중에는 공동체 식구들도 적지 않을 겁니다.
I'm pretty sure many people of CSA read this column as well.
그러니까 주변에 있는 사람들에게 물어보면 돼요.
You can ask people around you.
솔직히 말해서 물어보지 않아도 그들의 삶을 잘 알고 있을 것이니까, 제가 사실을 말하는지 거짓말을 지어서 홍보효과(?)를 노리는 지 알아챌 것이 분명할 겁니다.
And if you know anyone from CSA, you know how they live; so you would be able to tell whether I am pulling your legs or not, just to gain attention.
그러나 저는 더 이상 영성학교를 홍보할 필요를 느끼지 않습니다.
But I don't see the need to advertise CSA anymore.
이미 주말이나 주일에는 앉을 자리가 없어요.
We are already out of our seats on weekends.
그래서 더 많은 사람들이 찾아와서 시끌벅적하는 걸 원하지 않습니다.
So I don't want more people crowding the place more than how it is.
제가 입만 열면 늘 말해온대로, 지금이 최고로 좋기 때문입니다.
As I say again and again, 'now' is the best moment for me.
그러나 이 말을 꺼내는 이유는, 하나님을 부르는 기도의 습관을 들이면 행복해진다는 것을 말해주기 위해서입니다.
But I am still saying what I claim is to let you know the prayer seeking God will make you happy, once you get into the habit of it.
우리가 예수를 믿고 교회에 오면 구원을 얻고 축복을 받게 된다는 투의 말을 수도 없이 들어오지 않았습니까?
We've heard and were guaranteed God's blessing and salvation if we believe in Jesus Christ, no?
천국에 들어가는 자격은 심판대 앞에서야 비로소 알게 될 것이지만, 이 땅에서 누리는 축복은 이미 경험하고 있어야 할 겁니다.
You will know whether you are certified to enter Heaven when you are in front of God; but you should already enjoy all the blessings you can receive out in this world.
그러나 크리스천들이 하나님을 모르는 세상 사람보다 더 행복하게 살고 있다고 자신 있게 말하지 못하고 있죠.
But Christians do not confidently say they are happier than secular people.
하나님을 부르는 기도의 습관을 들이면 행복하게 된다는 것을 증명하고 있습니다.
I stand by what I say: Calling out to God will make you happy. And I prove this everyday.
왜 그런지 아십니까?
Do you know why?
하나님을 부르는 기도를 하면 악한 영들이 쫓겨 가기 때문이에요.
It is because demons run when you start calling out to God.
물론 처음부터 도망치는 것은 아닙니다.
Well, not at first.
처음에는 성령이 들어오지 못하게 하는 공격이 엄청나요.
In the beginning, they will attack so that the Holy Spirit can't come to people.
그러나 성령을 간절히 부르는 기도를 하면, 성령께서 죄를 깨닫게 해주시고 죄와 싸울 힘을 주십니다.
But when you call the Holy Spirit desperately, he will have you realize your sins and give you strength to fight against them.
악한 영들은 죄의 덫을 놓고 죄를 부추겨서 덫에 걸려 불행에 빠져 고통스럽게 만들지만, 성령께서는 죄를 깨닫게 해주시고 죄를 자복하고 회개하는 기도를 통해 죄를 용서받게 해주십니다.
While demons set traps for people to step on so they can sin and become miserable, the Holy Spirit helps people to realize their sins, confess, and pray for forgiveness.
그래서 죄를 용서받은 자녀들은 하나님과의 관계가 회복되고 성령과 동행하는 삶을 누리게 되는 거죠.
And people who were forgiven get to restore the relationship with God; and they live with the Holy Spirit right by them.
그러나 작금의 우리네 교회에서는 1분짜리 영접기도로 성령이 들어오셔서 내주하신다고 가르치고 있습니다.
But churches today teach people that everyone can be saved by reciting the minute long acceptance prayer.
성령이 함께 하시는 증거와 변화, 능력과 열매가 없어요.
Unfortunately, they don't show signs of the Spirit, changes, abilities, or fruits.
그래서 신앙의 연륜이 오래 되고 교회직분이 드높아도 영혼은 건조하고 냉랭하며, 믿음은 무능하고 무기력하고 고단하고 팍팍한 삶을 살아가고 있죠.
That is why people live miserably, with their souls empty and dry, even though they've been participating in church activities for long time.
사랑하는 자여 네 영혼이 잘 됨같이 네가 범사에 잘되고 강건하기를 내가 간구하노라(요삼1:2)
Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. (3 John 1: 2)
귀신이 몸에 잠복하면 고질병과 정신질환을 일으키고, 각종 중독과 범죄에 빠지고, 가족들을 포함해서 가까운 사람들을 미워하게 하여 싸움을 일으키고 분열시킵니다.
When demons go inside people's body, they cause mental and physical illnesses; they trap people inside all types of addictions; they create conflicts and fights in between people, including families and friends.
그리고 각종 불행한 사건사고를 일으키고 하는 일마다 실패하게 만들지요.
They bring all kinds of misfortune and failure, no matter what you do.
그래서 귀신을 쫓아내고 성령이 내주하시게 되면, 영혼이 구원받으며 건강을 회복하게 되고 하는 일마다 형통하게 됩니다.
So if demons leave and the Holy Spirit comes, your soul will be saved, body heals, and succeed and whatever you do.
그러므로 쉬지 않고 하나님을 부르고 전심으로 성령을 간구하는 기도의 습관을 들이시기 바랍니다.
So please. Please make a habit of calling out to God with all your heart and soul.
그 길만이 당신이 행복한 삶을 누리는 유일한 비결입니다.
That is the only way to live happily ever after.
