This third weekly edition made me read up about some celebrities yesterday and I wasn't surprised with the amount they earn through streaming, live performances etc, truly, celebrities like the actors, athletes and artists earn way higher than even the teachers and doctors. It is the data we burn just to keep ourselves busy with the fun and entertainment they earn from.
Being a celebrity isn't an easy feat as many of them worked their way through it. Something I got to know is that celebrity comes with the expectation of wealth and a lifestyle so lavishly. You cannot be a celebrity without having money because you will be taxed in all ways. I think in this scenario, I would say celebrities are being charged with all of these more than teachers and doctors. People are weighed based on their status.
To keep up with the glamorous life, celebrities had to diversify their sources of income to keep up with enjoying their lives in the best way. This is why you see and hear of most of them having side hustles alongside their professional careers. One wouldn't blame them for earning too high because it is what they have made efforts on right from the beginning, they worked their ass off to get to that feat. This is why you see a lot of them charging higher to perform on stage.
The reason why they earn more income is that the advent of technology has made more ways available for celebrities to generate money such as streaming online services. For example, when they perform a show on YouTube, they make more through the advertisement that keeps popping up and we are talking about millions of dollars here.
Another reason they earn higher is that, it is not the government paying them. I watched a movie yesterday where a celebrity was asked to take her picture for a cream advertisement. This deal is what makes companies pay higher because they know featuring a celebrity's face on a product would make higher sales.
Teachers, they are earning too low compared to their efforts to make the best out of everyone who chooses to be educated. Companies don't pay teachers because they aren't public figures like the celebrities are. Look at the celebrities we have today, who taught them to be who they are today? Teachers, but they are being paid lower. Something we should understand here also is that the world is now a digital one where everyone can make a living just like any other person aside from their career. Depending on a source of income wouldn't get to anywhere, this is why celebrities are making more money and this is because of their side hustles which make them keep their life balling. It is why having digital skills is the best in our world today.
Doctors are also doing a great job too and it is to save the lives of many people who need the utmost care. Teachers made the doctors and these celebrities, Doctors treat everyone including teachers, athletes, artists, and actors. But they are also paid lower. I think what should be done is to make the payment structure of teachers and doctors fair enough instead of the little meagre given to them while also letting the celebrities breathe. I guess it is in my country these two professions aren't paid well and it is the reason most of them leave for greener pastures to another country so they could be well appreciated for their efforts.
The government should focus on the non-celebrities too and be concerned more about them in making sure they enjoy their pay while working to ensure the best for everyone.
