Today we are checking out some records from a variety of countries, with a similar psyche/space/kosmiche theme
Klaus Schulze
"Audentity"
1983
Wow, this is the eleventh solo record from this former Tangerine Dream/Ash Ra Tempel member. It's on the Innovative Communication label, which I believe is his very own record label. This double record clocks in at over 90 minutes! I guess the reissue 2xcd has almost 2 hours of material on it.
Pierre Henry
"Messe Pour Le Temps Present"
1967
i always forget how this record is from the 60s! the song 'psych rock' is probably most well known as the song they based the futurama theme song around. Pierre Henry was one of the most famous electronic modern music composers of the 20th century, probably known best for his "musique concrete" tape sound collage works. This one is quite different than most of the other work i have heard from him, being a collaboration with dancer, Maurice Bejart and having some rock elements. Henry collaborated on a record with Spooky Tooth in the 70s that has some interesting textures and a similar concept.
Pascal Languirand
"Vivre Ici Maintenant"
1981
Cool spacey and ambient guitar synth and gong meditations from this French Canadian who later formed synth group trans X-it's funny i bought a trans x record once because it looked cool-but it had some other record in the sleeve😂🤣
Steve Maxwell Von Braund
"Monster Planet"
1975
This is some obscure Australian 70s space rock, reissued on the Dual Planet label, orignally on Clear Light of Jupiter. It looks like he is originally from the Melbourne scene but relocated to Europe in the 70s and got down with the electronic scene there and started the project upon returning to Australia. They would play shows and chill with Tangerine Dream, so they got some cred i guess....maybe that can be me some day getting reissued because i'm friends with emeralds!! something to look forward to in life, finally. I do love the vintage pics and cheap obscure reissue with two page gatefold liner notes.
Thanks for checking out these jams!
Get spacey and crank it up!
