Today I want to share with you this little trip I made to visit this beautiful landscape called Mata Nacional da Machada, located in Setubal, Portugal. As a good nature lover I found a new place that you can visit because it has many things to offer, it is an educational center of 370 hectares, having as objective the visitors, to learn a little about the lung of the city, the forest, fauna and activities that you can do in the place.

El día de hoy quiero compartirles este pequeño viaje que realicé para visitar este hermoso paisaje que se llama Mata Nacional da Machada, localizado en Setubal, Portugal. Como buen amante de la naturaleza les encontré un nuevo lugar que puedes visitar porque tiene muchas cosas para ofrecerte, se trata de un centro educacional de 370 hectáreas, teniendo como objetivo los visitantes, aprender un poco sobre el pulmón de la ciudad, la floresta, fauna y actividades que puedes hacer en el lugar.

First I want to share with you a little knowledge that I learned and researched about this place. This place before being a nature center, was formerly owned by the church, “Convento de Nossa Senhora da Luz da Ordem de Cristo”, but by order of the church was extinguished in 1834, but later was acquired to the state that kept this place and was joined Pinhal de Vale de Zebro and have been annexed learning activities, areas to be on bikes, there are even specialized tracks to do activities with electronic helicopters etc.

Primero quiero compartirles pequeños conocimientos que aprendí e investigué de este lugar. Este lugar antes de ser un centro natural, antiguamente fue propiedad de la iglesia, “Convento de Nossa Senhora da Luz da Ordem de Cristo”, pero por orden de la iglesia fue extinta en 1834, pero más tarde fue adquirida al estado que conservo este lugar y fue unido Pinhal de Vale de Zebro y se han anexado actividades de aprendizaje, zonas para estar en bicicletas, incluso hay pistas especializadas para hacer actividades con helicópteros electrónicos etc.

Now I want to talk about the fauna of the place, we have informative signs commenting possible animals that you can observe, but from my experience I only managed to see some species of birds like the pica pau, poupa, and the champim real. There is a part of the place that has an observatory, but unfortunately the lake that is with the observatory, that day was dry, but this place has the Lago dos Cagados, where it is more likely to observe. However, there are indications that you can see hedgehogs, moles, rabbits, and even the European otter appears, which caught my attention. I can't be sure if we can really observe it because it is a nocturnal animal.
Another bird that you are 100% sure to see are the storks, because they are always near this area. Before they immigrated to Africa, you can see them here. I even managed to take a photo from a distance of their huge nests.

Ahora quiero hablar de la fauna del lugar, tenemos letreros informativos comentando posibles animales que puedes observar, pero desde mi experiencia solo logré avistar algunas especies de pájaros como el pica pau, poupa, y el champim real. Hay una parte del lugar que cuenta con observatorio, pero lastimosamente el lago que está con el observatorio, ese día estaba seco, pero este lugar tiene el Lago dos Cagados, donde es más probable observar. Sin embargo, hay indicativos de que se puede ver erizos, topos, conejos, e incluso aparece la nutria europea, que me llamó mucho la atención. No puedo estar segura de si realmente podamos observarlo porque es un animal nocturno.
Otro pájaro que sí es seguro que verás al 100% son las cigüeñas, porque siempre están cerca de esta zona. Antes de inmigrar a África, puedes verlos aquí. Incluso logré tomar una foto a distancia de sus enormes nidos.

In conclusion this walk that I managed to do the other day, I liked it a lot even though I did not have the opportunity to photograph certain animals, because the lens of my camera is not appropriate; however, I managed to capture beautiful photos of the landscapes that we can appreciate when you visit this place, plus a visual learning, beautiful scenery, and the knowledge that we acquire that forms the Country.

En conclusión este paseo que logre realizar el otro día, me gusto mucho a pesar de que no tuve la oportunidad de fotografiar ciertos animales, porque el lente de mi cámara no es el apropiado; sin embargo, logre capturar hermosas fotos de los paisajes que podemos apreciar cuando visitas este lugar, además de un aprendizaje visual, hermosos paisajes, y el conocimiento que adquirimos que forma del País.
