St.Petersburg historic festival - Part 1 - visual story in 18 photos

This is a post to go with #WednesdayWalk challenge by Hive account@tattoodjay. Today it would be special, as I walked to the historic festival named "Window to Europe", in honor of the 350th anniversary of Russian Emperor Peter the Great.

There I witnessed an abordage of a sailing battleship by seven boats and one land-based gun battery. I have made more than a thousand photos; of course, in one post it is impossible to tell even about the most memorable moments. So, today I will just start, let me show you what my eye looked at, without any concept: what types I met at the festival.

Not far from the entrance there was a tent where one could try on a comfortable and "fancy" soldier's uniform of the 17th century - and, of course, hold on to weapons. The success of this spot has been... unrelenting.

Blacksmiths and medalists. They did not work all the time, and I managed to take a very limited number of pictures, alas. I couldn't see the production of the medals at all...

Here it was possible to forge 4-sided nails by yourself - of course, with the help of a blacksmith! The kids were delighted.

The carpenters showed how to properly edit a tree trunk, that is, a log, into a beam. Many have never tried it. After a little exercise, one looks with great respect at the achievements of the ancestors.

One could pull on a real cable that controls the main sail - without climbing the shrouds to the height of a 3-story building. You can actually do this even while standing on the ground! Precious opportunity for those who wanna educate themselves more about sailing.

In the crowd of visitors, one could easily meet a variety of figures. Soldiers, sailors, marketers, blacksmiths, noble aristocrats...

An interesting character. Was that an adventure seeker? A pirate in a skirt? I remained intrigued.

I assume that these are simple Dutch dishwashers?.. Would appreciate your guesses.

These girls were actually running the calligraphy tent, as I later noticed - and I have to say that it was one of the biggest moments for me at the festival. Here one could write with a goose (well, or a gull - there are many gulls in our city!) pen and ink to write some good inscription "according to the model" in an old handwriting. As you can see, a soldier was even assigned to the entrance to the tent, who lets those who wish according to the queue - there were very, very many who wanted to!

I will have to make 1 or 2 separate posts just about this one tent...
