🌿 “My Little Garden Dream: How I Start Planting Malabar Spinach and Pechay to Make Our Home Look More Alive and Better Place to Live In” 🌱
Hello and good day, community. I will be sharing with you today my journey of planting Malabar spinach and pechay in our home so that our home will look good. I hope you enjoy reading my blog today.
At times life appears as if it is too active, and we forget how nice and peaceful nature is, so I decided to make one small garden in our backyard some day. Though small and imperfect, it still gives me happiness and pride. I call it my "little green space."
In the beginning, I hardly had any knowledge about planting. I thought to plant Malabar spinach (alugbati) and pechay, as I believed that perhaps I could grow something easy to eat later. They are both very useful in the kitchen, and their cultivation is not hard. I prepared some soil and also a few repurposed containers like trays and bottles. I started to spread the soil after cleaning the small area beside the wall. It was a bit messy indeed, but I liked it.
I am so thrilled with the sowing of the seeds because it feels like planting hope. Every day, I go to check whether they have already sprouted. I water them lightly, and sometimes I talk to them as if I were their buddy. It may seem ridiculous, but I consider that plants do have a feeling of care. Tiny green shoots are coming out very slowly, and I feel very happy to witness that.
Besides doing the garden work, I also make it a point to recycle by using things like plastic bottles as planters. I am trying to show that we can make our environment better even if we do it in very small ways. By planting, I want to beautify the environment, making our area green and appealing to the eye.
After a couple of weeks, my garden starts to look like it's alive. The pechay leaves have a good spread, and the Malabar spinach was able to climb the net I set up at the back. I capture the moments to have a visual history of the change from bare ground to a gorgeous, thriving garden. It is a regular reminder for me that nothing great comes without patience, hard work, and time.
My family sometimes takes a stroll outside and greets the plants with a smile. "Wow, the plants are growing!" they shout, and I feel honored. It might seem easy, but I have invested a lot of love and energy in its creation. Our environment gets better and becomes a more peaceful place to reside.
Gardening is a big task that requires not only planting but also knowledge, skills, and all these traits: perseverance and attention to detail. By engaging in gardening, you will gain patience, kindness, and the enjoyment of little triumphs. Plus, you will know how to save nature in your own little way as a result.
I am starting to perceive more in my small garden than plants only. I recognize hope, life, and a sign that by growing a green plant, one can change the things around him. Just like what my photo says, “Let’s make this place a better place to live in.” Since every little plant that we grow and every soil that we take care of is one step nearer to a world that is more beautiful and happier. 🌱💚
