Hi everyone!
I have joined the Hive Community for close to a week now and I came across a comment by who thought it would be great if I did an introduction post. So here I am! 😃
Who am I?
I am Relf from Singapore (it's a country in Asia with beautiful city skylines, you have to google "Singapore City Skyline" to see the images!). If there are any fellow Singaporeans here, feel free to connect with me (in the comments below)!
I studied Statistics during my undergraduate days solely because of my passion and I still enjoy crunching numbers and looking at charts and trends till this day. Currently, I work in a role that is perhaps more related to finance (it's complicated haha). Like most people, my work arrangement in this post-Covid world has become a hybrid model, i.e. a mixture of working remotely and working in office. Speaking of telecommuting, it was a challenge adapting to this "new norm" initially but gradually it became better.
Outside of work, I am an introvert and my life is simple. I enjoy long walks in the nature or within my neighbourhood because it feels therapeutic, especially after a stressful day at work. If I feel that I need something more intensive, I head to the gym. I do play some mobile games, like Pokemon Go and Empires and Puzzles (I could write about them too) and have made good friends over there. I love chilling at cafes too, sipping tea or coffee and enjoying sinful cakes.
How did I discover Hive?
This is an interesting question. I started following the cryptocurrency space seriously towards the end of 2019. (I used the word "seriously" because my first exposure to cryptocurrencies was actually during the hype in 2017/18 where we saw BTC shot up to USD 20,000 before crashing to USD 3,000.) Anyway, I digressed. So 2019 was the time when I made some effort to read up about blockchains, the utility of different coins, etc. At that time, the purpose was more of self-learning and acquiring new knowledge. I still remembered BTC was around USD 13,000 then and ETH was around USD 400. Lol!
That was also the time where I came across Axie Infinity. But I was lazy and didn't start an account to play. And look at the price of AXS now! So fast forward to 2021, I chanced upon websites talking about Splinterlands and I decided I should not procastinate again so I spent a weekend to read up and explore the game before signing up to play.
And while searching for guides and strategies for Splinterlands, I found Splintertalk, Peakd, and to my amazement, the whole Hive ecosystem! So amidst my fascination by this whole blockchain technology, I had to grapple with so much new knowledge, e.g. what is a Hive token, Hive Power and Hive-backed dollars, and what is curating and what does a curator do, etc. Thankfully, there is a FAQ as well as many posts by various users who helped me understand it better - but I am still learning along the way and enjoying the process!
What types of content do I want to see and to produce?
I think I generally enjoy reading about most content, except those spam posts with not much description (you get what I mean). Currently I am reading more posts on Splinterlands (of course haha) and also how the Hive ecosystem works. Beyond that, I am interested in finance and investments (be it equities, ETFs, cryptocurrencies, etc), reading fiction stories, or self-improvement/motivational kind of stuff.
As to what I wish to produce, I guess I am still starting out and still exploring the possibilities. Currently, I am working on a few key areas:
- sharing my experiences on playing Splinterlands at Splintertalk
- sharing my onboarding/learning journey on Hive community as a whole
- sharing my self-written fiction stories at Freewriters
What are my expectations in this platform?
Hmmm.. I do hope it would be a great avenue to get some feedback on my writing (so that I can improve), make some new friends (especially when I am an introvert), acquire new knowledge and maybe get some Hive tokens at the same time (still figuring how this works)!
So that's all I have! If I didn't satisfy your curiosity, leave a question in the comment below! 😉
As always, thanks for reading and have a pleasant week ahead!
