“My love, I already want to meet you. I'm looking forward to Valentine's Day so we can travel and finally be together.” Lui wrote to his girlfriend via chat.

“Well, honey, I'm looking forward to meeting you too.” Rosa sent her boyfriend a heart emoji.

Rosa and Lui met three months ago on a social network, and since then, they have been living an intense romance full of fantasy, a romance that seems like a fairy tale. They have never seen each other outside the screens, only what they share in messages.

Valentine's Day was the perfect excuse for the couple to meet in person. Everything was ready for Lui to travel to the city of his love. It was clear that they both had their worries and fears, but they had decided to take that big leap in their relationship and go to the next level.

“Honey, I can't wait to see you and be able to touch you. You don't know how much I had been looking forward to this moment.” Lui was excited for the trip.

“Love, I also wish so much for that sublime moment, but if you can't come or something unexpected comes up. I will understand.” Rosa was a little nervous and transmitted that feeling through the chat.

“Love, something is up. If you don't want me to come, tell me, and I'll cancel everything.” Lui sent a sad face emoji.

“No, no, no, no, my love. I'm so excited to see you. I can't wait to have you around.” Rosa sent a heart sticker.

“I'm so happy to hear that, honey,” Lui said goodbye to his love and went on with his trip.

The days passed quickly, and with one day left for Valentine's Day, Lui headed to his girlfriend's city. He was very excited to meet Rosa personally. Thousands of thoughts of a future with his girlfriend, marriage, children, house, old age together, and endless plans for the future passed through his mind.

The long trip ended, and Lui could see the yellowish lights decorating the urban panorama. Lui called Rosa on WhatsApp, and there was no answer. He kept insisting but without success.

Lui became worried because his girlfriend was not responding, and fear began to take over him. I didn't know what to do or where to go in that unknown city. He continued trying to contact Rosa, leaving messages and waiting for a response.

The bus arrived at the station, and darkness had taken over the day. Lui got off and observed everything around him like an explorer in an inhospitable jungle. Fear made him go slowly and look around, anticipating any unpleasant situation.

Lui looked for a seat, where he sat down and felt the hardness of the plastic, matching the fear that grew from the pit of his stomach to his head. He clutched his luggage tightly, and at that instant, the cell phone started ringing. Lui busily picked it up and answered. “Love, where are you?” It was Rosa, the familiar voice reassured Lui.

“I'm here in the waiting room. I'm so glad to hear from you, honey.” Lui laughed nonstop.

“I'm on my way. Wait for me, please.” Rosa cut the call.

Lui was once again among those unknown faces that lazily passed by him. The minutes seemed like hours as they passed, and Lui felt that pang in his stomach again.

A voice called his name in the distance. Lui happily began to look for the origin of the sound, and his eyes focused on that familiar figure, but there was something strange. Lui approached Rosa, astonished at what he saw.

“Rosa, I'll leave you alone so you can talk to him.” A big and strong man was saying goodbye to her.

Lui kept looking puzzled, and Rosa took the floor, “I was going to tell you, but I was a coward. I thought you wouldn't talk to me anymore.” A tear fell down her cheek.

“Do you think I would have changed, knowing the condition you are in? If so, you don't know me yet. Lui turned around and began to walk away.

“Love, wait. Forgive me.” Rosa moved her wheelchair quickly and took Lui by the sack. “I didn't want to lose you. You are the best thing that ever happened to me. You do me so much good.” The woman cried desperately.

Lui turned around and saw that woman holding his jacket. He immediately remembered all those days that woman made him happy with her witticisms, love, and unconditional support. Lui knelt and wiped his beloved's tears.

“The trip was terrible, and you are not answering me. I was already getting scared. Haha.” He kissed her and hugged her.

Together, they knew that this was a new beginning and that, with their love, they would make it through.

«Bueno, cariño, yo también estoy ansiosa por conocerme al fin». Rosa le enviaba a su novio un emoji de corazón.

Rosa y Lui, se habían conocido hacia tres meses, en una red social, desde ese entonces empezaron a vivir un romance intenso y lleno de fantasía. Un romance que parecía un cuento de hadas. Nunca se habían visto lejos de las pantallas ni sabían mucho más de lo que las letras compartían el uno con el otro.

El día de San Valentín fue la excusa perfecta para que la pareja se conozca personalmente. Todo estaba listo para que Lui viajara a la ciudad de su amor. Era evidente que los dos tenían sus preocupaciones y temores, pero habían decidido dar ese gran salto en su relación y pasar al siguiente nivel.

«Cariño, estoy deseoso por verte y poder tocarte. No sabes cuánto había deseado este momento». Lui estaba emocionado por el viaje.

«Amor, yo también deseo tanto aquel momento tan sublime, pero si no puedes venir o se te presenta algo de imprevisto lo entenderé». Rosa estaba un poco nerviosa y transmitía esa sensación a través del chat.

«Amor, sucede algo. Si no quieres que vaya, puedes decírmelo y cancelo todo». Lui mandaba un emoji de carita triste.

«No, no, no, mi amor. Estoy muy emocionada por verte. No puedo el momento de tenerte cerca». Rosa mandaba un sticker de corazones.

«Me alegra mucho saber eso, cariño». Lui se despedía de su amor y seguía adelante con su viaje.

Los días pasaron rápidamente y un día antes de San Valentín Lui ya estaba de viaje. Estaba muy emocionado de conocer por fin a Rosa, por su mente pasaban miles de pensamientos de un futuro con su novia, casamiento, hijos, casa, vejez juntos y un sin fin de planteamientos para el futuro.

El viaje largo llegaba a su fin, y Lui podía ver las luces amarillentas decorando el panorama urbanístico. Lui llamaba a Rosa al WhatsApp y no había respuesta, siguió insistiendo, pero sin ningún éxito.

Lui empezaba a preocuparse porque si novia no respondía, un miedo empiezo a apoderarse de él. Lui no sabía qué hacer ni dónde ir en aquella ciudad desconocida. Siguió intentando comunicarse con Rosa y algunos mensajes le dejo con la esperanza que ella respondiera.

El bus llegaba a la estación y la oscuridad se había tomado el día. Lui bajaba y observaba todo a su alrededor como un explorador en una selva inhóspita. El miedo hacia andar a paso lento y mirando todo a su alrededor, previendo cualquier situación desagradable.

Lui buscó un asiento donde se sentó y sintió la dureza del plástico, haciendo juego con el temor que crecía desde la boca del estómago hasta su cabeza. Apretaba con fuerza su equipaje y en ese instante el celular empezó a sonar, Lui lo tomó afanosamente y contestó. «Amor, ¿dónde estás?». Era Rosa, la voz familiar tranquilizó a Lui.

«Estoy aquí en la sala de espera. Me alegra mucho escucharte, cariño». Lui reía sin parar.

«Voy para allá. Espérame, por favor». Rosa cortaba la llamada.

Lui volvía a quedar en medio de aquellos rostros desconocidos, que pasaban indolentes por frente de él. Los minutos parecían horas en el transcurrir, y Lui sentía nuevamente esa sensación de punzadas en el estómago.

Una voz pronunciaba su nombre a lo lejos. Lui feliz empezaba a buscar el origen del sonido, y sus ojos se enfocaron en aquella figura conocida, pero había algo raro. Lui se acercó a Rosa, atónito de lo que veía.

«Rosa, te dejó sola para que hables con él». Un hombre grande y fuerte se despedía de ella.

Lui seguía mirando desconcertado y Rosa tomó la palabra, «Te lo iba a decir, pero fui una cobarde. Pensé que ya no me hablarías más». Una lágrima caía por su mejilla.

«¿Tú crees que hubiera cambiado, sabiendo la condición en que te encuentras? Si es así aún no me conoces». Lui se daba la vuelta y empezaba a retirarse.

«Amor, espera. Perdóname». Rosa movía su silla de ruedas rápidamente y tomó del saco a Lui. «No quería perderte, eres lo mejor que me ha pasado en la vida. Me haces tanto bien». La mujer lloraba sin consuelo.

Lui se dio media vuelta y vio a aquella mujer tomada de su sacó, inmediatamente recordó todas aquellos días que aquella mujer lo hizo feliz con sus ocurrencias, su amor y su apoyo incondicional. Lui se arrodilló y secó las lágrimas de su amada.

«El viaje estuvo fatal y tú que no me contestabas. Me estaba asustando. Jaja». Le dio un beso y abrazo.

Juntos supieron que ese era un nuevo comienzo y que juntos con su amor saldrían adelante.
