Good morning, dear players. Yesterday, February 11, It was a historic day for everyone; since we had the pleasure to see, in a pre-recorded stream, the official presentation of the PlayStation 5 . — This beauty will be a video game console that will shape a new generation, in terms of gameplay and experience. — Sony's digital event has shared with us a lot of news; among them video games such as Horizon: Forbidden West, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the remake of Demon's Souls, and the one that most surprised the community, Resident Evil 8: Village (which we will talk about now).
Something to keep in mind is that Resident Evil are third-party titles, therefore, despite having been announced at a Sony event, it doesn't imply that it's exclusive (the same happened with Assassin's Creed: Valhala at the Microsoft event) . — So that we can enjoy this game on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X next year (2021).
After Resident Evil 7 (2017), Resident Evil 2: Remake (2019), and the impending Resident Evil 3: Remake (2020), the zombies return with Resident Evil 8: Village.
For 2 months, among the forums, there were rumors that this title would be "Revelations 3"; but as the project was much more ambitious than previously thought, it ended up becoming a main title.
First of all, we must understand that the saga, since its inception, has tried to scare its players by basing its theme and its story on the errors of science and the misuse of biology, but it seems that Resident Evil 8: Village would change the format, focused on fear in the paranormal and supernatural things...
Many of the theories mentioned about Resident Evil 8 were confirmed or discarded with the trailer that Capcom presented yesterday; and it seems that the saga will have important changes.
- The first information we were able to confirm is that the plot will be established using European folklore as a starting point. The video shows castles, a remote city, and a culture with a medieval flair (something we've already seen in Resident Evil 4).
- We also confirm that Ethan Winters will officially be the main character; former protagonist of Resident Evil 7 (which, incidentally, was heavily criticized by fans for featuring an underdeveloped character). In this game we can appreciate Ethan Winters more evolved, since in the seventh title he was the least prepared of all (and even living disturbing and bloody experiences, he continued to get more involved; with the aim of saving his wife). Perhaps this is an advantage, since it would contrast perfectly with the rest of the characters in Resident Evil...
- Another thing I didn't expect was the presence of Chris Redfield (a prominent member of the STARS brigade, who later became part of the BSAA). This time we saw him with a psychotic expression on his face and a dark aura.
Without knowing the reason for his abrupt change, in the few seconds that he speaks to Ethan, we can deduce that he will be the cause of his misfortunes.
- The werewolf and the witch were the most prominent in the trailer, and that's because a few months ago a user on Twitter had leaked that information. Capcom has not spoken to comment on these 2 characters; but conspiracy theories abound on the internet.
This is something that would alter and change the foundations on which the saga was based for so many years, and would fit with what has been heard so far.
- And finally, it was also revealed that the motor used will be the RE Engine; an internal motor developed by Capcom, and the same as Resident Evil 7.
Among the leaks, there is talk that the game would have 3 playable characters: Ethan will represent 60% of the gameplay, then there will be Sherry Birkin, who will be the second protagonist with 30% and, finally, with 10% participation, an unknown character (hopefully Leon S. Kennedy). Everyone probably has their mechanical differences when it comes to behaving and attacking.
It has also been leaked, from the Biohazard declassified website , that occultism played an important role within the game, but without spells, as it was a cult (as we had seen with "Los iluminados" in Resident Evil 4). At first, everything may seem to be derived from something supernatural, but this is the result of a hallucinogenic virus that spreads through the air.
The adventure would take place in open spaces, outdoors (like castles, caves or forests).
very similar to the fourth title in the series...
To be honest, little is known about Resident Evil 8: Village, and there are more theories than confirmed information. There is still a long way to go, and Capcom can make changes on the fly to avoid falling into "fan service." One of the things that worries me is that the trailer has talked about the death of a main character, and logic suggests that it may be Claire Redfield. That would explain Chris Redfield's violent attitude; for seeing his sister "die" ... maybe?
The truth is, I don't want to anticipate the facts, and despite the hype I may feel, all that remains is to sit back and wait for the birth of this game ...
