The interest in short videos is increasing day by day, which causes the rise of short video apps. Many people, especially social media users, use many tools to make their videos different by remixing popular songs. Recently, we have seen that Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered apps have been directed towards the video and music industry, and due to the popularity of these markets, it seems that we will see more AI-powered apps in the future.
Hook has announced that it will be launching an AI-powered app that will allow fans to legally remix their favorite songs for social media. According to the statements made by Gaurav Sharma, who founded Hook in 2021, Hook will have a few features that make it different from other apps.
Record labels and social media companies have the tools to track usage so artists and record labels can make money, but when modifying songs some creators use tricks like speeding up, slowing down, or using applause tracks, most of which evade detection mechanisms. Gaurav Sharma says Hook will help solve this problem.
AI-powered app Hook will allow fans to legally remix their favorite songs for social media, while also providing compensation to the artist for use of their music. In short, with the Hook app, short audio clips can be created for social media and these can be shared on social media platforms with a single click.
Gaurav Sharma said in his statement:
We want to use AI to make it really easy for fans to remix and imprint their own creativity on their favorite moment of music. And we are doing all of it as a value proposition to the content owners and labels by acting almost like a content management system. Derivative songs don’t often have copyrights attached to them, so we are building a platform that leans into using AI while having a strong commitment to solving attribution and compensation problems.

It is said that Hook's beta will be released next month, and the stable version will be released in 2024. It will be on the App Store next month. It is currently possible to request access from the official website, but I wanted to point out that it is not downloadable immediately, those who request access are added to the waiting list.
