Music Can Trigger Insulin Release - Queen - "We Will Rock You"

Diabetes is a condition in which the body produces little or no insulin, so diabetics depend on external supply of this hormone via injection or pump. Researchers are looking for various solutions to administer insulin to diabetic patients, that is, they want to make their lives easier.

Researchers from the Department of Biosystems Science and Engineering at ETH Zurich in Basel conducted research to find solutions to produce and administer insulin directly in the body. In the study, researchers discovered a novel stimulation method that uses music to trigger cells to release insulin. In previous studies, they studied and applied different triggers such as light, temperature and electric fields to externally control when and how much insulin cells release into the blood. And in this study, researchers at ETH Zurich used music and the results were better than expected. According to the research, cells with an ear for music release insulin, in other words, they can use music to trigger the cells to release insulin within minutes. It works especially well with "We Will Rock You" by British rock band Queen.

According to the study, Queen's global hit "We Will Rock You" released almost 70% of insulin within 5 minutes, and the release was complete within 15 minutes, similar to the dynamics of glucose-triggered insulin release by human pancreatic islets (You can look at the figure above). This is really great research, and it's really cool to know that music helps release insulin. My uncle is diabetic and I sent him the link to the reserch and told him to read it and even send it to his doctor. I really wonder how much it will help him, he already loves music and I have no doubt that he will listen to "We Will Rock You" often because it is one of his favorite songs. I love the song "We Will Rock You" too and I'm listening to it right now.
