A place where the entire culture of the city is reflected From markets which houses shops for high end to middle class society to luxurious hotels and signature offices. It's kind of ideal place which most of the metropolitan city owns.
If you want taste of Delhi, just spend a day at cp.
As the maps shows, basically the place is made in a circular format and many pieces are divided jut like a cake. each section is named alphabetically and have stores and cafe.
Mostly the height is two stories and not more than that which was build back in 1933 by Robert Tor Russel. when India was captive under British rule. But we fought and bought our nation back from the clutches in 1947.
The Aesthetics
Running around CP you'll find every exterior wall painted in white where only through lights one can change the colour that too during night only. The parking system of cp is really well maintained the slices of cake kind of partition which I was referring earlier are the key to maintain the traffic and parking.
To understand how well any shopping complex is designed one should always look for the parking and movement of footfall. Also there are public washrooms well maintained at every corner of cp.
During the day this place is really full of life with plenty of people roaming around. It has no difference in footfall during week days or weekend. Even shootings from a short film to a mega star Bollywood films takes place here. we tend to see many kind of artisans playing music and dancing around and showing off their respective talents. since this place is designed in a circular form with central park in centre. It attracts many tourists as well.
The safety is well maintained by Delhi police's regular patrolling also there's police headquarter over CP.
During evening few people gather around as metro gets closed by 10 pm and due to huge connection of metro to this place and entire Delhi, majority of people loves travelling through metro.
Many people owns a open stall of books, phone covers, earings and decorative items around the alley of cp and they have to pay monthly to the government for using the space.
Government is super keen to take good care of cp as it is the bread winner place of teh city and being popular, from charging points to free wifi it has all you need to sustain for a day.
The Brands
Many famous and drugstore brands resides here as this is strictly commercial space no residential building will can be spotted at cp.
Since I went with my parents to have dinner after some shopping. We had to park our car at a parking and then to visit around we needed to walk on beautiful circular alleys of the cp. It's quite huge and if you seems to get lost between the multiple alphabetic alleys then switch to google maps and choose walking option, it will take you directly to your location and wile going there you'll enjoy the different stores of brand including cafes, retail and so on.
The united coffee house is the most famous and one of the oldest coffee shop over cp. This shops houses high profile guests from ministers to prime minister. Even during 90s many famous freedom fighter used to drink coffee here which made this place luxurious and famous.
These shops were about to be closed and some were already closed due to late evening. The magical thing is the combination of brands and street style . Just in front of these nice brands there are little street shops of decorations, books, phone accessories and jewels.
With the central part of cp there lies an underground market as well which was unfortunately closed when I was there few days ago during late evening. That market is specially for people who cannot afford to buy from brands. Which is really cool as this shows the versality of the place which has everything for every part of society.
Shifting our focus to commercial offices. there are plenty of offices which are made by different unique and talented architects of India. Like Raj rehwal and Hafeez contractor. These guys are like gems they made multiple amazing buildings for office spaces.
The Beautiful Insights
Specific brands have different interiors like Hamleys and H&M. We enjoyed the interiors with great fun and clicked plenty of pictures.
This store was connected with two cafes. They shared a common alley which was beautifully designed. The beautiful exterior mouldings and groves on the wall with high ceiling gives an impression of huge structure. some brands giving their touch in interiors makes the place more lively.
This divided section had different marble and stone flooring with a fountain and music around in order to give an amusing feel to the place.
The adjoining cafes are super luxurious and they entertain only prior booking. The classic columns and moulding was still the part of interiors but certain changes just made it more exclusive and lavish.
Concluding
Referring Connaught place as heart of Delhi is absolutely fair as you must be now well versed with the wide variety of things available and enjoyable here. From good facility of parking to police patrolling strictly makes this place feasible also he fun and excitement this offers as classic restaurants also bar and cafes, pvr cinemas and art museums for all kind of people is super fun to witness.
Not just structural architecture, this place house the cultural values too. Like we witnessed an artist who was dancing.
He looked like bob Marley , his facial features and bangs over the head were all crazy and his free form of dance was creative too. we paid him few bucks and moved ahead with smiles on our faces towards the parking lot.
It was indeed enduring experience. I would recommend everyone visiting Delhi, India to surely pay visit to C.P. you'll have so fun. As just few walks away from the central circular market we have a line of 4-5 star hotels.
