I actually didn't understand the concept of web 3.0 before joining hive. I loved web 2.0 services because i understood it was the current and standard version of the internet. I admired youtubers and Instagram content creators because of the money they make.
I did know that sometimes their contents get deleted but i felt it was beyond anyone's control.
I Own you Because I Pay You Right?
Every now and then we are being restricted by these web 2.0 platforms and I thought there was no alternative. They hide behind the fact that you can earn by relying on their services.
In general, web 2 has shown that it's really dangerous when too much power is put into a company's hands. We really can't thrive in a centralized environment. Almost everyday you see people complain that their contents has been taken away and its quite interesting when you consider that some of these people are top content creators.
Is it that they haven't heard of hive?
Hive Changes Everything.

Then I joined Hive and And i then fully understood what web 3.0 is.
Web 3.0 in simple term means "Freedom Of Speech"
Wikipedia defines freedom of speech as;
Freedom of speech is a principle that supports the freedom of an individual or a community to articulate their opinions and ideas without fear of retaliation, censorship, or legal sanction.
Exactly what Hive is! The ability to be free.
Hive has shown decentralization at it's best. The ability to own your content is something i find interesting. You can build a life where no one can silence you.
Take a look at me for example, I really didn't have a voice before coming to hive, I practically play chess and upload my videos back then on steem via YouTube. I didn't earn from posting on YouTube. You Can't really compare it to hive where makes life easier for content creators
So what's the debate about? Web2 Vs Web3?
There are many debates ongoing. One of which is Is web3 going to replace web2? , Is Anonymity a good thing?
While i am still understanding the concepts of web 3, for now i can say web3 gives you a better experience compared to web2. While it is not clear how much anyone wants to give information these days to a central Body, I think that is an important thing to consider.
Web 2 are built by corporations and organisations that will always have this greed nature especially in structure.
I saw a tweet that read;
Interesting debate. I wonder if the two could converge to create more value than independently...just like web2 and 3 are likely to complement each other rather than one overpowering the other.
The thing is web 3 can't complement web 2 as they are two parallel lines that can never meet. One is focus on client-server policy while the other decentralized.
Hive Fixes This
Like Theycallmedan's tweet reads, many are looking for a solution to get their own space in the crypto world. A chance to speak and a chance to be heard. A chance to be free, Where one can remain anonymous and escape regulations and centralization.
In Conclusion...
Many Are Searching!
Everyday, I preach the hive gospel because i know how much a lot of people need hive. Many don't realise, but alot more don't even know about it.
