Friends, Happy Friday everyone.
Today was quite clear and there was no fog in the morning atmosphere. Such clear environment is sometimes observed in winter mornings and fog free mornings are nice. But it is true that winter means cold and fog and everything else remains imperfect. Today I will share my first work of needlework with you, in this wonderful community, in this beautiful environment with beautiful feelings.
I learned this sewing work in my school life because I had this education in home economics and to get practical experience, I tried to experience myself by keeping a teacher at home. But then I didn't do much work, but sometimes I tried to make my own clothes. But I never thought of recording them and sharing them on Hive.
But now that I am working as a curator in the #DiyHub community and trying to make different kinds of crafting with color paper, I thought a few days ago that I can share my skills in #needlework, if I record my needlework works. It is from that thought that I recorded the making of this selwar, which I will share with you today.
Materials used to make Selwar:
- Cotton cloth
- Thread
- Bokrom
- Tape
- Caesar.
Preparation phase:
First, I took the measurements of one of my old salwars and then cut the fabric leaving an inch extra from that measurement. It is convenient to sew by keeping a little more.
Then I stitched the two sides of the salwar, thereby trapping the two sides of the fabric nicely so that it is easy to work with. If the two sides are sewn first, then the upper side and the lower side can be fixed and sewn easily.
Then completing the upper part, we do not use hooks or buttons on the selvage in this area but instead tie it with a ribbon. So, I sewed the top part leaving enough gap to insert the ribbon.
Then I sewed the inner part of the two parts of the two legs, sewed the inner part. After sewing both sides and inner sides we are 90% done. Then I sewed the top two sides together with extra fabric.
Now let's see how the whole scene looks, now we need to sew the bottom part nicely then our work is done.
We have to use bokrom to sew the leg part a little differently. The bokrom is a slightly stiff cloth with glue, which will hold the lower part tight. I put it in the lower part and then twisted the fabric and sewed it.
See I've made my first needlework hive and I'm going to iron it nicely and then put it away. I will use it to celebrate happiness on any special day. In our country, as a common dress, girls wear a two-part cloth, the upper part is called kameez and the lower part is called selwar.
I hope my today's needlework has been able to give you a nice idea about how we make our favorite dress part, the selwar. Any suggestions from you will encourage me to work regularly in this community.
This is my original work.
Thanks all.
