Introduction
I'd like to start a talk about a proposed HIVE initiative to be called The HIVE Guardian.
Not submitting this to re-brand the HIVE blockchain, but sharing a possible education and on-boarding tool designed to help new users and potential users understand what HIVE is and what it is not.
It is probable that I may look to incorporate it in my proposed marketing proposal as an appendix once submitted.
What is Hive Guardian?
Hive Guardian will be a community-owned mascot for the Hive blockchain. Its purpose is simple:
- It will explain Hive in a clear, visual, and fun way!
- Make on-boarding easier for new users.
- Give the ecosystem a shared and neutral guiding mascot.
The Guardian does not represent authority, leadership, or control. It does represent the blockchain/network itself &mdash powered by people and engagement.
Why Does HIVE Need a Mascot?
HIVE needs eyeballs! We need to stand out among all the other blockchains. Cereal companies, sports teams, schools; they all have mascots to assist with their branding. Why not us?
HIVE is powerful, but many Newbees (new users) have trouble grasping:
- Why Hive has no fees
- What the heck are Resource Credits
- How we are governed without centralized authority
- How blockchain works
- What the Delegated Proof Of Stake (DPoS) protocol is
This proposed initiative focuses on simple visuals (infographics) and short comics that explain these ideas at an everyday level. Here are some comics I have made leverage artificial intelligence (AI) technology (I ain't no artist and it is quicker π) :
What I am working on now.
β¦
β’ An open-use asset pack (transparent images, social graphics, meme-ready visuals)
β’ Clear usage and remix rules so the Guardian stays neutral and community-owned
All assets would be free to use across:
β’ Hive frontends
β’ Apps
β’ Docs
β’ Community content
β’ Education materials
Ownership & Control
This is an important point:
β’ The Hive Guardian would be community-owned
β’ No single app, company, or individual controls it
β’ No exclusive branding rights
β’ No authority implied
The Guardian exists to explain, not to lead.
π¬ What Feedback Is Needed?
Before submitting this to the Hive Governance, Iβd really like community input on:
- Does this feel useful for onboarding?
- Does a mascot fit Hiveβs culture?
- Are there concerns about neutrality or misuse?
- What concepts should be explained first?
- Any strong objections or improvements?
Critical feedback is welcome β this is meant to be refined with the community, not imposed.
π― Goal of This Discussion
A wise man surrounds himself with much counsel. Something I learned as a leader of US Marines. Input from the community is paramount to the success of this initiative.
Thanks for taking the time to read and respond. Hive works best when ideas are discussed openly.
Looking forward to your thoughts π
