Two days ago, I went on one of the most beautiful trips with my wife and children.
It was a gathering of car tuning enthusiasts from all over Europe, held in Crikvenica, a small tourist town 255 kilometers from my home.
We left early in the morning, around 6:30 AM, to get there by 10, since there's a 60-kilometer stretch of road full of curves, but it's a beautiful drive along the coast.
We arrived in Crikvenica at 10:05 because we stopped once at a gas station to refuel, pump the tires, and grab a coffee.
When we got to Crikvenica, there was so much to see.
My younger son, who loves tuned and sports cars, was overwhelmed — he didn’t even know where to look.
You could hear exhaust pops from all directions, loud music, and girls washing cars.
My son immediately started recording and taking pictures of every car he saw, and once he had photographed them all, he stood by the road to watch as they drove around the town, showing off what their cars could do and how they sounded.
It was a dream come true for him — he was simply overjoyed.
Later, when we got hungry, we went from restaurant to restaurant hoping to find an open spot, but had no luck — everything was full. So we waited on the side until someone left.
After almost half an hour, a table finally opened up and we sat down to order.
We ordered a meat platter and something refreshing to drink, since it was nearly 25 degrees Celsius and very hot, with no breeze at all.
After we ate, I thought I saw an old friend I grew up with while living in Zagreb.
He had come in his McLaren, and of course — you can guess — my son immediately got in, and my friend started the car and let him rev the engine a bit.
Later, he even took him for a ride around Crikvenica.
My son was ecstatic when he returned — he didn’t even know where to begin explaining what it was like to ride in a supercar.
Naturally, he had to photograph and film everything to show off to his friends and immediately sent it all to them on social media.
We headed home around 7 PM and arrived at 10:15.
It was a pretty exhausting and long day, but I would do it all over again a hundred times just to see the smile and joy on my child’s face — it's priceless.
In May, there will be a hill climb race just 30 km from where I live, so we’ll go to that as well.
And in June, we might go to Osijek, if possible depending on my work, since it’s a bit farther — nearly 650 km from where we live — and I’d need to stay overnight at least one night.
But for my child’s sake, I’ll try to take two days off in a row so I can make that wish come true too.
I hope you’ll like the photos I took, although my son has many more and much better ones than I do — he basically filled his entire phone memory with pictures and videos.
